Last time I reloaded (10 - 15 yrs. ago) my Pet load for 9 MM was 4.8 Grs. of Herco behind a 125 GR. Lead Round Nose Bullet. It was accurate, reliable & easy to shoot in my S&W Model 39. Tried the same load in my new 9 MM H&K 2000 & the loads won't even eject or cycle the action. Anyone feel like sharing their favorite 9 MM recipies?

My favorite that my Beretta 92FS likes is 115 gr PHP (Montana Gold or Rainier) driven by 5.5 gr of Unique. It's economic, high case capacity so you don't have to worry about double charges in a progressive, the new Unique is much cleaner, and it dispenses consistently in my Uniflow powder measure with a baffle I rarely see it vary even .1 gr.

Good loads, Bushmaster!

I use 4.8gr 231 with 115 JHPs and 4.4gr 231 with 125 JHPs. I've used Titegroup, down through the burn chart to True Blue, and keep coming back to Win 231.

Yup Mr. Crimp,

Stuff's hard to beat. Nothing fancy. Just gets the J.O.B done.:D My loads work very well in my 9mmX19 Firestar...I've tried other powders, just like you, and keep coming back to W-231. Besides the stuff works quite well in my .38 Specials, .45 ACP and short (2 1/2") barreled .357 magnum S&W.

Well, my pet load changes depending on whether I'm shooting at Fluffy or Rex.

I'm joking, calm down.

At 64 with a blood pressure at 120/70 it's good to get a bit pi$$ed. It raises the BP so I can tell if my heart is beating.

By The Way...Does Fluffy need the heavier round or does Rex. You should do a better job of pickin' yer friends too...Fluffy and Rex seem a bit california iffy...:neener:

Hey Bushmaster. I just bought some WST & WSF to try in the .45. How does it compare to W231 and what loads would you recommend? I know what W231 can do. Very good stuff, but a bit torky at full throttle with plated. Best stuff I've tried for lead at medium velocity.

Power Pistol and Super Field are about as good as it gets with plated or jacketed bullets at full power levels. Unique is my favorite with lead bullets. For jacketed or plated light loads I use Clays.

99.9% of my 9mm shooting is with cast and the best powder for me accuracy wise is Longshot with both the 121 tc designs and 147 gr. I use 5.7 grs with the 121 for speeds in the 1150 fps+ and 4.6 with the 147 for velocity right at 1000fps. Herco comes in a close second with the 121. Good luck whatever you choose, searching for the good loads is half the fun for me. Nick

Walkalong...I haven't played with WST or WSF in a long time. Besides I only load jacketed bullets...

1911user...With the 115 grain JHP (Winchester) I get 1070 from a 3.33 barrel (Firestar) and just barely under 1000 fps with the 125 grain JHP, same pistol.

I'm shooting Plated and Precision Molycoated.

W231 was the hands down winner with lead when I tested 20 plus years ago. I shot that for years with lead, now I am shooting the Pltd and trying the Precision bullets.

4.7gr Universal behind a 115gr FMJ. It's not my favorite load, it's my only load. (I'm a n00b.) Hasn't blown up my gun, or me, and it puts the holes in the paper.

5.6 grains of Unique, 115 Grain Montana Gold FMJ, Federal #100 small pistol primers, and winchester white box empties. This is my first and only 9mm load so far, as I am also a newbie. The load shoots just fine in all three of my CZs.

regards,

Luis Leon

My standard 9mm handload is a 124 gr. plated RN projectile (either Berry's or Rainier) atop 4.4 gr. of Universal Clays at an OAL of 1.145" with a light taper crimp. Exceedingly accurate when shot from my CZ 75B and FN HP-DA. It clocks about 1050 fps out of the 4.9" barrel of the 75B.

Italian made Beretta 92 shoots those old Remington 115gr HPs
so much better than anything else it ain't funny? ;)

7.00gr W540/HS6 ...yeah double zero :)
Ground-out and polished-up LittleDandy rotor can do that. :)

5.05gr of W231 (same story)

WSP primer's and sort my brass by brand.

That's my homemade quick-draw-cowboy-holster for my Beretta.

It's quickdraw if you don't count the time it takes to untie the dangged hold-in string and then pull the gun outta-there by that black string. ;)

At least so far I hadn't lost the gun. ;)

I really like Power Pistol powder in 9mm. In fact, I like it so much I bought a 4lb keg of it this evening. I've never bought that much of one powder.

6.0 grains of Power Pistol with a 124-125 grain jacketed or plated bullet is really nice at 1140 fps.

Power Pistol burns clean and meters well.

My favorite 9mm loads are Winchester Super Field behind 147gr bullets. If I use 4.0gr powder I get about 920fps in a Combat Commander, both with Winchester JHPs and Berry's. This is a very pleasant, low-blast load that runs in anything.
Compared to 115gr White Box, it's a lot more fun.
I tried going up to 4.5gr but I didn't need it.
I did try going down 3.5gr and it ran okay in the Colt and Taurus, not so okay in the Glock.
I even experimented with 3.1gr to reduce recoil enough for my wife to like it, but I had to back off on the recoil spring pretty far to get 95% function. It kicks barely more that slowball wadcutters in her Diamondback .38.
Like WST, WSF seems "low report"- quiet to shoot. I hate noise.
