My favorite 9mm loads are Winchester Super Field behind 147gr bullets. If I use 4.0gr powder I get about 920fps in a Combat Commander, both with Winchester JHPs and Berry's. This is a very pleasant, low-blast load that runs in anything.
Compared to 115gr White Box, it's a lot more fun.
I tried going up to 4.5gr but I didn't need it.
I did try going down 3.5gr and it ran okay in the Colt and Taurus, not so okay in the Glock.
I even experimented with 3.1gr to reduce recoil enough for my wife to like it, but I had to back off on the recoil spring pretty far to get 95% function. It kicks barely more that slowball wadcutters in her Diamondback .38.
Like WST, WSF seems "low report"- quiet to shoot. I hate noise.
