This one is from last winter and the pattern is a composite of Al Stholman, another deceased leather crafter, and me that I assembled. It is made from 8-9 ounce Herman's Oak, lined, and hand stitched. It is right cross draw which makes it handy to wear in my jeep while traveling the boondocks. It has a wrangler stuck in it but works equally well with a single six or rough rider.

This one is made a little earlier and I gave it to my son-in-law to carry his rough rider in. Same leather and stitching method but no lining and one of the few I have dyed. The inside was sanded down very smooth and finish applied after form fitting to reduce wear marks even it is just an RR being carried.

These are the first holsters I have made after around a 20 hiatus from leather working. I was very rusty in the tooling department with the first and with some rust left on the second.

Beautiful work, sir. Do ya do anything for black powder wheelguns? :)

I haven't yet but am considering one for my 1860 Army replica. Making a holster is pretty much the same for any handgun. Just determine the size to fit and what if any ornamentation you want. Leather work is just a hobby for me anymore. I wouldn't want to make one to sell as I would always see some flaws in it. Essential tremors have really done a number on my artistic abilities.

Nice holsters. I looked at a machine something like that several years ago but decided with no more sewing than I do it would just be a waste of money on a dust catcher. I recently found a roll of smooth thin leather at Hobby Lobby of all places and grabbed it for lining as the top pictured holster used up the last off my lining leather.

Quite nice work there! I dabble in holster building as well. Lots of fun.

Yup...revolvers and cowboy holsters go hand in hand.....but then, so does most of John Brownings stuff....
