It means “fine wood care”.
A friend from Germany has used the lighter color (helles) on a shotgun etc.

He said that the wood’s color didn’t change.

Is anybody here familiar with how it might Compare with raw Linseed oil, BLO , Tru-Oil etc ?

Is he talking about this - Scherell's Schaftol (stock oil)? Scherell is now owned by the same company that makes Ballistol - F.W. Klever GmbH. It's BLO with a little bit of silicone added, nothing to get excited about - Ballistol offers almost the same product under their own brand, called "Balsin".

Mizar- Yes, exactly— this Schaftöl.

I just bought a nib Springfield M1A in the typical walnut.

There is no hurry to put any preservative on the wood and am simply curious about this “oil” which nobody in the US - besides Germans etc- know about.

Thank you for explaining what it is.

I can’t spell “ Blagodaria “ .
Learned it from a Bulgarian limo driver for our flightcrew in Pensacola.
