Saw an ad for a Saginaw M1 Carbine on the local Gun Trader for $1K OBO. I have a really nice Inland that I don't shoot very often mostly because it is in such nice condition. Pics made the gun look average at best so I wasn't surprised the ad was still up a few days later.

Thinking this would be a good shooter, I contacted the guy last night and we met up this afternoon. I had a very hard time controlling my poker face when he pulled this early production SG from a gun sock. After some back and forth we came to an agreement at $850. I couldn't be happier. If he had held firm I would have been payed his asking price and walked away feeling like a winner.

The M1 Carbine is my favorite long gun by a country mile. It really is a masterpiece. I am one happy camper to have found this Saginaw.

Wow again..... Looks like a sweet deal. I still regret selling the one I had 20 something years ago. Thanks for the pix.

I have carbines from five of the ten different manufacturers and my Saginaw is about the most reliable. It may be a coincidence, maybe not. Sounds like yours is a good shooter. Enjoy.

The 30 Carbine is fun to shoot.

Nice score! Both my dad and grandfather worked at Saginaw Steering Gear, I'd love to find a deal on an SG carbine like that. I make do with a Plainfield that dad bought new in '64. I do love the M1 carbines and hope that with the load of imports that came in last year, we might see the prices on 30 carbine ammo creep down a bit

Wow wow wow on that rifle! Looks fantastic and smartly bought! Congratulations and enjoy it, I’m excited for you!

i owned dozens of them over the years, dogs-shooters-collectors, all but one have gone and its this rebuilt winchester that eats anything and as accurett as any of them. light-handy and powerfull enough to get the job done at reasonable ranges, whats not to like.

With Covid and the way the Midway guns got snapped up I was thinking the opposite. With folks willing to pay close to $2K for over graded import marked guns I thought the days of reasonably priced Carbines were over for good. Hence my surprise at my luck.

It is good to be reminded that there are still bargains out there. I hadn't made a deal since 2019 and was really missing the rush I get seeing an old gun for the first time and knowing it's going to be coming home.
