Hiya Guy's ...
So a Nam' vet friend that owns a working horse ranch just this side of the Oregon border heard about the Norinco AK that I picked up a couple days ago so he thought he'd touch bases with me and give me a hard time about it and remind me that she is still looking for a nice AK himself and he asked me to try and find one for him since he doesn't have too much free time these days with his Ranch and helping his neighbors and things and as he says he's up to his ass in alligators.

Anyhoo, I touched bases with the friend that I traded my VZ2008 AK to for a nice Mini-14 to find out if he was ready to sell it back to me or not and found out that he wasn't so I told him that I was looking for another AK to buy for a friend and he informed me that he had a nice AK underfolder that he thought was possibly Turkish that he might be interested in selling me instead, so I made arrangements to get a Hands-On look at it and wound up bringing it home for $640.

Other than having a nice full size milled receiver the main thing that caught my eye is that there's no make , model , import marks or stampings of any kind on the receiver or Barrel other than the s & f by the safety for safe & fire . Other than that it seems to be nicely machine and well-made & definitely worth the $ the days . After doing some looking around my best guess is that it's most likely a Serbian Zastava ( formerly Yugoslavia ) underfolder, but then again, who knows ?? :) ...

On another note, my friend that I picked this up for will be around tomorrow morning to check it out after he finishes his morning chores at the ranch but if something comes up and he can't make it I already have a trade deal lined up for a Zastava N-Pap.. .

Ditto on the stamped receiver. A milled receiver has a rectangular cut above the magazine whereas a stamped receiver has that oval dimple like the one you have.

What do the markings under the trunnion say?

That's not a milled receiver.

Yep, my bad, you're right it's not. I guess that's what I get for trying to multitask and do two different threads while playing with split screen :notworthy: ...

What are the markings on the underside of the receiver just past the front of the magazine?

Looks like a parts kit to me; the wood doesn’t match and the parkerizing looks different from part to part.

I thought it was illegal to transfer/sell a home built without a serial #(?).

Yugo AKs have different front trunnions so the furniture is a little different
Yeah, it's different. Requires some fitting and wood work, but it can be done.

The guy filled in the gap with wood putty and sanded it. If you zoom in on the first pic you can see how that ended up. IMG_7752.JPG

I've seen similar mods of similar Yugo AK's here and there.

I'm not saying it's a drop in ('cause it's not), but it is possible.

Someone who has the skills to bend AK flats and use a Yugoslav parts kit would be probably be able to swap trunnions out.

it is most likely a Polish AKM kit built on a US receiver.
As drobs pointed out above, many US made receivers are marked for parts kit from Hungary, Poland, Romania .............etc.
I have a Polish Under Folder AKM , and it is very similar to the 1 in your pics.
