I just saw this "interesting customized" Smolt at one of our local gunshops....it's a new S&W 25 (actually a 25-13) .45 Colt "Mountain Gun" with what looks like new "coke bottle" Eagle Grips with a Colt, yes a prancing pony, medallion on the grips. - just somethings make a guy go hmmm.

Smith and wesson gun. check. Colt grips. check. Either one would work by itself, but put them together and thats just wrong.

In the early 70s there were guys screwing a Python barrel on K frame S&W. Made for a great shooter.

Smython

I thought they called the Python barrel and K-frame combination a Smython:confused: ...............oh well.

Those look to be Smith's diamond target stocks that someone swap the medallions with a set from a Colt.. I don't beleive Colt ever borderlined their checkering like Smith did nor used the raised diamonds.

I once read that S&W Historian Roy Jinks had a SAA made up with complete S&W rollmarks as a gag gift for Colt historian R.L. Wilson.

Actually, I have a Smython made for me in 1986 for bullseye shooting. 6" python bbl on a M19 frame. Gorgeous gun, fantastic shooter. Still hanging in the safe, a queen nowadays.

i heard the python barrel on the m-19 refered to as both a smolt and smython. the smolt crowd seemed to be more "working class" while the smython crowd were more "collectors" :D

the smolt was really a great gun with great balance and handling in a smaller size than the python, or the later L-frame. even nicer was the "couger"...python barrel on a ruger security-six frame

Yes, the "dream combo" I heard about was the "Rolt" or "Cruger" which is a GP 100 with a Python barrel. All the strength of the Ruger with the accuracy of the Python.
Whether this falls afoul of Biblical prohibitions on breeding diverse species remains to be seen.....
