What do you call a license to carry firearms on or about a person in a concealed manner?
Interesting, your question involves the proper usage of terminology. It is also interesting that the highest rated term so far (CCW), has nothing to do with a license, but rather what the licensee carries, a concealed carry weapon. Michigan uses the CPL acronym. I have many times heard CCW used for a charge against someone of "carrying a concealed weapon".

In CT it's called a License to Carry Pistols and Revolvers.

Since LCPR sounds absurd and nobody on this forum would understand what I was talking about, I just call it a CCW and be done with it.
And since CT does not state anywhere that this is for "Concealed", Open Carry is legal for permit holders.

Currently my state defines as a CHL, though that might change soon with our OC rights reinstated..... ???

In Iowa it is stated in the statute that the permit/license is a "Permit to Carry Weapons". It does not distinguish between concealed and open carry. An important benefit of this statute is that unintentional exposure of a concealed handgun is not a legal problem. And I am happy with the statutory name of the permit.
