Probably GO. Look for Sportsman's Guide to have it on sale for $4.50 a 20 rd box.Athens, GA store sold out, confirmed the price is good till 12-31-08

Hey PowderBurn, I called yesterday and found out the Brodie store was getting a truck last night. I stopped in this morning and they only had 1500 rounds - well, none now ($242). Nobody there seems to know when they get more or how much it will be. He did tell me the last guy in took 3k.
My local store is expecting 40 case shipments twice weekly for at least a few weeks. They were sold out this morning and half of today's resupply was sold when I stopped in at 5pm.
Kinda curious how much people might be buying? Anybody pony up $1600 to hit 10k? It's tempting but personally don't see the need right now, may change my mind before Christmas though.

my goal is to get another 5k from academy with my 5k I already have. never had a 10,000 round count caliber except for .22lr. =)

I found a box of Monarch 223 from about a two years ago in my range bag, it was $3.87. They used to carry 9mm Blazer for the same price. I miss those days.

Anyone know if you can use a 7.62x39 upper and bolt carrier group to convert to 5.45x39 by swapping out the barrel?

One of the benefits of living in the Richmond/Sugarland area near Houston is TWO Academy's along Hwy 59 within 5 mi of one another. ONE of them should have something

7.62x39 is not the same case as the 5.45x39, and do not use the same bolt. So no you would need a new bolt and barrel.

The best deal that I ever got on 7.62x39 was when a friend of mine sold me 500 rounds for $75 and he said he had some more that was not in the plastic bag. He gave me another ammo can with another 600 rnds in it. Thats right. 1100 rounds for $75. I need tohead to academy tommorrow on my way to work and see what I can find out. If they are selling at $2.99 a box, then I see another 1000 rounds being squirrelled away. Thanks for the heads up.
