Gents,
I've found a site:

http://www.accuracysystemsinc.com/
Accuracy Systems Inc Custom Gunsmithing AR15 AR10 Ruger Mini 14

This company offers a three-pin system to bed the receiver to the stock as well as a Harmonic Stablizer for the barrel that intregues me.

Does anyone have experience with this company and these mods?

I'd appreciate constrctive comments if you've dealt with them before.

Thanks in advance

I have not dealt with any of their "tweak" modifications.

I have, however, seen a complete AS-modified rifle or two in action. Tiny groups, pretty stocks, Mini-14 reliability. Apart from the price tag, I'd have one myself.:)

You might find some info on Accuracy Systems Inc at Perfect Union.

Personally, I went with Great West Gunsmithing. Can't beat them for 'bang for the buck'. For under $300 they can make your Mini -- AR accurate. Mine went from 4+" to sub-1.5" groups @100 yards.

My question is, why? When u can get a 1/2 moa AR for about $800-$1,000.
Plus u dont have to deal with the low quality hi cap mags that the Mini is plagued by. Also the AR is easier on scopes.

not everyone wants an AR rifle. Some folks really like a Mini. I own and shoot both, and feel that there is a place for each of them.
I too have shot an example of a Mini worked on my Accuracy Systems. It was an honest to god MOA rifle. Total reliability, and scary accuracy. I have to say, it turned a lot of heads at the range.

Also in Ca. AR series rifles with removable mags are classified as AW's and are illegal to own unless owned and registered before 2000. I have an accurized Mini that is sub MOA, I would rather have an AR, but it isn't an option.

Sounds like they do good work. Two nitpicks I have, though... 1) they got rid of the iron sights, and 2) it's still a Ruger.

I personally own many Ruger Firearms, and i am pleased with them all, cept my 10/22. I'm just trying to figure out why Ruger doesn't build a heavy 22" barreled version with a lighter/crisper trigger. If they could build it and sell it with a retail under $800.00, i am confidant Ruger would at least dent Ar sales. Just think Ruger Mini-14 Varmint Model.

I really don't care for the AR rifles. I do like the Mini 14. Chalk it up to personal likes and dislikes.

This company does offer a rebarreling combined with sub-moa results.

MOA-rated AR-15's run in the $1,300-$1,500 Arena, half minute is custom. ASI builds 1/2 MOA AR's and sells them for well over $2k.

Their work is the same price with the same results for Mini-s and AR's, but the Mini's start out at a lower cost.

You can buy a Mini-14 and have them build it to 1/2 MOA for about $1,400 total. They can also rechamber it in any caliber that will fit the action. (.17 Rem, .20 Tactical, .204 Ruger, .222, 6x45, etc.)

So, why not?

Just to clarify, i have nuthin againts the Mini. I was just curious. And also, my Bushmaster XM15 16" carbine will shoot 1/2" 3 shot groups all day with any decent ammo, and it cost me $900.00 out the door retail.

However, that said, the Mini is a cool rifle. I would have zero problem owning one if Ruger fixes the problems. I just dont care to have to send my rifles away to get them to do something they should do from the factory. Just my opinion.

MOA rifle is a phrase that means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. If someone were selling me a 1/4, 1/2, or 1MOA rifle the things I would want to know would be:

1) What distance?

A rifle can be 1MOA at 100yds and a lot less than that at 600yds. Most people who never shoot past 100yds and would likely never notice the difference; but it is important to know what you are paying for when comparing guarantees.

2) How many rounds in the group?

You don't need a very good barrel to produce the occasional MOA or sub-MOA 3-shot group at 100yds. Heck, I had a barrel that couldn't shoot Black Hills match ammo into a 2.5" 5-rd group at 100yds; but it would produce the occasional sub-MOA 3-rd group. A 3-rd group is virtually meaningless for anything beyond sighting in. A 5-rd group is better; but still isn't as reliable as a 10rd group. A barrel that is still MOA after 10rds is a rare barrel indeed.

Yep.

I know very little about long-range shooting, but what he said holds true for any sort of gun, and any sort of shooting. Google "regression to the mean" for a mathematical/statistical explanaition.

Any gun in my gunsafe can produce a sub-MOA group if I shoot it often enough, find the group I like, attribute it to my latest tweak, then call it a day. Eventually I will even manage to eek something respectable out of my beat-as-hell SMLE no1mkIII* with no rifling left. Calling a rifle X-MOA is only meaningful if that is what it does on average.

Standing up too, no doubt.

Of all my rifles, I only have one that comes close to consistent 1/2 MOA. 5 Shot bench-rest groups average .59" with handloads I've spent considerable time working up. The 1/8MOA dot fine reticle scope that is necessary to routinely group this small cost nearly as much as your XM15.
These groups will also open up to ~.8 MOA at 300 yards.

100 yd. MOA capability is somewhat garden variety these days with a decent rifle/scope/ammo combination and a good rest. Half-minute is a whole different animal. Few factory guns can pull it off.

However, that said, the Mini is a cool rifle. I would have zero problem owning one if Ruger fixes the problems. I just dont care to have to send my rifles away to get them to do something they should do from the factory. Just my opinion.

What problems? The mini is a half-and-half M1 Carbine/M-14 and functions as well as either of them.
