Accurate bullets

the 195 grain RamLoks from big Iron turned in a couple of respectable 50 yard groups. I was sitting with my back rested and using my knees for a rest

Truth. In the first six, I felt myself heal a couple high and found them on the target above the group making a figure eight. I went back and shot two more alibi rounds and then covered up the called fliers for the picture

No excuses here. This is a pretty amazing cluster for a caplock revolver.
Oddly enough, the standard bigiron/Gatofeo wads that worked so well with traditional bullets and ball didn't prevent fouling buildup with these. I used alighter charge with the new double thick wads did but took up a lot of powder space. This was a short session, but it appears these bullets get about 100 to 200 fps more velocity without any wad at all.

Tha BOSS said tha wads is fer balls, tha bullets he shoots without em an uses H777.

Looks like the wads did just fine with those bullets, though!

In fact, the groups above were shot using wads. the wads were perfect with the balls and traditional bullets and the longer wads seem to do well with the RamLok. I do think the velocity potential with these bullets might be better served with H777 or even swiss or pyrodex loaded against the powder.

Yer right on tha 777, more juice behind em an tha 1/8 inch wads an theys perfect.

Somethin differnt bought tha round ball an wad loadins, dont unnerstand tha deal BOSS does, says fer foulin reduction tha wads as is works better with ball.

NEW wads gonna be tougher an harder yet fer tha bullets.

tried them today with H777. Charges thrown from measure spouts calibrated for weight with goex FFFg. The first two groups were with the 30 grain spout. and the third with a 35 grain spout. the self aligning bullets were loaded bare over the powder column with little compression of the load. they are a close fit to the uberti chambers and are very tight upon full seating.

Group 1. This was the first group from clean and reasonably oil -free barreland chambers. It was the only six shot group. I thought I had shot a 2.5" fifty yard group until I saw the flier high and somewhat right. One of the bullets required extra force to seat and this may or may not account for the outlier.

Group 2. this one differed from group 1 only in that the chambers were coated with residue from the h777. shot to shot velocity variation was fairly narrow but the average was exactly 100 fps faster than the same load from the fresh chambers. The group is a reasonable four to four and a half inches.

Group 3. this was with the 35 grain spout and I would not like to try forcing this bullet down over a larger charge. four shots, while not up to the other groups were reasonbly close. I cannot accout for the low show/flier except that the barrel was accumulating a hard crust of fouling along the lower portion and in the forcing cone. I cleaned in between groups but there was a gradual accumulation that my field kid would not touch. I note that the load is still "combat! accurate" as it stayed within the high scoring ring of the old TXTP target. The calculated energy of the heavier load is in the range of many or most of the current .357 magnum factory loads.
