Advanced Soviet Tactical Entry Carbine

I like the idea, no doubt there is a small market for these rifles.

I actually have a Chinese Paratrooper configured in a similar manner, it has the following:

-Tapco T6
-Tech sight rear (and slimmer front sight)
-Tapco gas piston and Op rod
-USA clone 30 rounder (it works perfectly, so far)
-Ramline Flash Hider

The only thing that I think you may have overlooked is perhaps some sort of extended magazine release...

good creativity!

I have a Yugo and a Norinco.
heres the Yugo how it sits currently.

looks like something id like to do to the Norinco.

nice work!

Ambi safety and a mag release that you can reach without changing your firing grip should be a reality by the end of this week. We have working prototypes of both in the shop now.

sksman's extended mag release is a plastic extended release that just lengthens the release. You still have to remove your hand from the grip or use your support-side hand.

As it stands right now, the 2 features on our rifle that are not commonly available are the bolt mods. The rest of the suff anybody can put on.

whoa uys

no offense but most folks including ca ffls don't know what constitutes an aw in CA these days.

the legal configuration would be:

NON DETACHABLE MAGAZINE 10 ROUNDS , OL >26"

that's pretty much it. once the gun is non detachable you can add almost anything you want to it save high caps and forward pistol grips.

the problem is, as someone earlier mentioned, that currently we know of no us-made 10 round fixed magazines to get around 922r.

Now Desert, here's what I would gladly pay $350 for:

1. take an unissued yugo sks.
2. hack off the GL, the bayo lug, the gl sight. shorten barrel to 16.5.
3. thread the barrel
4. loctite a flash suppressor.
5. install tech sights.
6. leave bolt in right side configuration, cut costs.
7. keep original stock.

that's it. hopefully, that can still be 922r ok or be made 922r ok.

will sell like hotcakes in ca. here there is nothing that can compete with that as the mini14s and su16s are all $650 and up.

Can you modify a Chinese, paratrooper to use AK mags? I'm very interested in the ambi safety.
I'm sure we could but we haven't put any effort into yet. We'll work on that after we get caught up a little bit.
The ambi safeties are now a reality. We have working prototypes in the shop now and we should have them available in the next week or so.

Very interesting

excercise in artful rejuvenation of an old workhorse. For the $600 investment I'll keep my Arsenal 5.45x39 and my Saiga 308 thanks just the same. Yeah I know I bought them early enough.:)

If Cope hasn't contacted you this link should work.

If it doesn't go back to one of his posts and the link is on there. He worked on my Glock and I have nothing but good things to say about his work.

Thanks DM, I talked to rockstar and a couple of others from THR and TFL on the phone today.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around a phrase that has the words advanced, soviet , and carbine in it lol .

Looks like a fun little gun tho and good luck with sales . The bolt handle grabbed my attention more than anything else. To my uneducated eye tho it appears the pistolgrip would be problematic if one wanted to remove the fire control group .

We make fun of some of the silly names that get tacked on to some of the products on the market today so we decided to to give it the "Ramboish" name we could think of.

They ARE very neat little guns. The few changes that we make is like buying a whole new gun.
On that particular stock, the pistol-grip can be removed so that you can take the trigger group out.

Original design is just fine for me. Yes, I do have to dismount it from the shoulder to work the handle

Why? Hold it to your shoulder with your left hand and pull the charging handle with your right like working a straight-pull bolt gun like the K31. In fact, this is one reason I prefer the right-side bolt handle. If the gas system goes tango uniform, you can still run it as a straight pull boltie.

Why do that when you don't have to? Many experienced riflemen don't...won't, interrupt their sight picture and target acquisition by putting their hand in front of their face and it's too slow and clumsy to reach under it. Not that it can't be done but it's unnecessary. I think it's a hell of a lot easier to reach up with your support hand and operate your bolt .

Desertscout, are you commenting on the situation where the carbine is resting on something? If so then yes, your right hand is not required to hold the gun up and you can let your left one work the bolt (assuming a right-handed shooter here).

But if you are up on yer two hind legs and you take the left hand off the front of the carbine, will your right hand be strong enough to hold on target? Not me, not with a full-length SKS. It'll wobble like Elvis's pelvis.

Remember these aren't full-length guns. My wife has a little trouble doing it but the rest of us have no trouble at all. It's a little tougher with a full-length Yugo with all the paraphenalia hanging off of it but I can still do it. We're only talking about a second or so just rack the action or clear a malfunction. The pistol grip makes quite a bit of difference too.

OK I just tried it

I have two Yugo 59s
one is original configuration, one in a T-6 with the front sight and bayo lug removed
For some reason the charging handle pulls much harder and less smooth than the unmolested one.

It is very easy to hold the T-6ed gun on target while working the handle and that is with me having to reach under or over to get to it

Looks Good.........

i am looking into getting an sks and you just gave me an idea of what i may be able to do with it. Looks like it be a blast to shoot.

Advanced Soviet Tactical Entry Carbine

Hahahahahahhahaahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

1) It's an SKS. It's certainly not advanced just because you put a new stock on it.

2) How is a Yugoslavian and Chinese SKS considered Soviet? The Soviet Union has been dead for 16 years, and they certainly didn't produce SKS's of this particular... "customization."

3) Tactical Entry carbine... more meaningless tacti-cool gibberish. Overly accessorized, over-priced bubba-rifle would be a more accurate description.

The SKS is a good rifle in its own right, but this is like putting an M4 stock on an M1 Garand. It's actually shameful.

Sorry if I'm being a little too blunt, but this was just waaaay over the top.

If you don't want one, don't order one. We have built and shipped quite a few of these already. There are enough here to keep us running about 30-45 behind on everything pretty much all the time.

therealsteamer,
My wife has been in the hospital almost constantly for the last 6 months and our FS trip got pushed back. Truth is, I just got back from the ER again just now. We'll be going on 18 March. The ambi safeties have been put on the back burner since we started doing the same thing to AK's. Not only have we moved the bolt handle to the left side, we have also perfected a mag release for the AK you can reach with the trigger finger without changing your grip. Much easier and faster. The ambi safties for the SKS are just a matter of building them. We have a couple of working models here now.

First off, best wishes for your wife's recovery.

Congratulations on your innovative carbine, it looks very interesting. I may be interested in one in the future, though I think I'd prefer to have one with the charging handle on right (hard to teach an old dog a new trick);) . How sturdy is the collapsible stock, and what type of warranty do you offer with your carbine?
