I have been watching Aim Surplus for a trade in gun in 40 S&W in the $300 range. But the now unwanted 40 caliber guns are all sold out and have been for a while. I guess the 40 S&W isn't as dead as some would have us believe.

But the ONLY 40 S&W they have in stock is an X frame Glock for $260. They don't show good pictures of what qualifies as an X gun. So has anyone bought one of the guns in this grade rating?

People talk a lot of crap about Classic and some of it may be true, but AIM isn't much better. I bought a Zastava .32 from them last year and it had a bent barrel bushing and a nice idiot scratch on the side. I bought it to shoot and the issues can be easily fixed with a new bushing and some cold blue, but for a gun they're basically selling at "too good to believe" prices and don't even have honest pictures of the gun tells you all you need to know.

Sellers on gunbroker are more honest.

Last I saw PSA has turn in m&p 40 cals. Looks like the price went up, but I got one last month for $270. Only came with 1 mag and the front night sight is dim but they pistol itself was very xlean

My experience with Aim differs from your’s in that the guns that I have received were in the advertised condition (commensurate with their ad pictures and description) or better. I have bought roughly 10-15 used guns from Aim between 2014 and now. Did you happen to call Aim after receiving your pistol?... I’ve called them about a couple things and they were always very polite, responsive, and helpful. I resist bad-mouthing companies unless I contact them and provide them the opportunity to make things right. The way I see it, nobody is perfect and you cannot expect someone to solve a problem that they don’t know exists.

On the other hand, Classic Firearms is imitating the now out-of-business Southern Ohio Gun in the way that they consistently provide customers with items of a lesser grade than advertised despite whether hand-pick fees are paid. And no, it was not a one-time anomaly that I experienced.

First, I've never had a bad experience with AIM. I bet I have bought 10-12 guns from them. One of those guns was a X-grade p229 in 40 last year. While there was considerable finish wear (which was outlined in the pistol's description), the gun I received was fully functional. Just don't go in expecting a beauty queen, and you should be pleased. They aren't discounting the gun for no reason.

They never advertised it in perfect condition or anything like that. The scratch on the side where the takedown pin was I can understand, but I wasn't expected bent bushing and the company is a surplus reseller.

I just learned never buy a used gun online without seeing what it looks like before I order it. Murphy's Law usually applies when it comes to something I pay for.

I've never really had a big issue with any gun I've bought online, from a store, or from an auction site like GB. I doubt it's luck at this point, as I've bought about 35 used guns over the last 14+ years on GB and other online auction sites. Not a stinker in the bunch.

I've bought guns from both Classic and Aim Surplus and have nothing bad to say about either of them. The Beretta 81 I got from Classic a few months ago is in great shape, and yes I paid extra for a pretty pick, but I've bought other guns from them without the pick option, and when they said "good to VG", they meant it, and that's what I got. Actually, I would say it's much closer to "excellent", than VG.

As far as Aim goes, every used/LE gun I've purchased from them has been better than described. The first one was a Sig P220 DAK, which was in nearly new condition, except for an odd dull spot on the muzzle. Last one was a Jericho 941F, in fair shape cosmetically, but a great shooter. I did have to hunt up a new guide rod as the one in it wasn't the correct one (it didn't fit), but a friend bought 2 of them the same time and his look just like mine, but had the correct guide rod. They only would have found the rod issue if they had taken the slide off. It was obvious something was up with it, as it was loose and wasn't even snug against the barrel. You could rack the slide fine, but firing it could have been dicey. I've bought about a half dozen other handguns from Aim, and all were as advertised.

I would tend to think your problem with the bushing is an anomaly rather than the norm at AIM. I've had many dealings with them and all have been to my satisfaction. Their attitude seems to be one of genuinely striving to provide excellent customer service.

Just got an email ad from them the other night, which included 9mm Norma ammo. Norma is usually considered premium ammo, and it's not a 9mm brand they usually carry. In our current situation, with 9mm all but gone everywhere, they pretty much could have asked an elevated price and they would have gotten it.

They priced the ammo at $12 a box, which, to me, says a lot about their integrity.

I just sent my son in Florida a S&W model 915 I had been planning to take to him along with his other guns but now the trip is on hold. I found him some 9mm ammo at Sportsmans Warehouse and sent him a link in an email and told him to go ahead and order a few boxes. But I just called him and he said he hadn't ordered yet but would in the next day or two. I told him don't bother. Its all gone now. He got a free gun but failed to get ammo for it. Oh well, I did what I could.

I just got off of an ammo search for 40S&W and you can still find it. I saw Winchester Ranger FMJ for .30 per round. Not too bad. I don't know? Maybe I should just chill a bit until this panic blows over. Getting a 40 would mean getting all the dies, brass and bullets and at least one bullet mold. I have lots of 9mm stuff. Plus two more 9mm guns and a 9mm rifle. Maybe just stay with 9mm and forget the 40.

If you want some .40 brass PM me and I'll send you some to start with.

Thanks 1K. If I carry through on getting a 40 cal I will take you up on the generous offer. Maybe when I get my Trumpbux I will look at getting a new gun. Lord knows I need another gun.
