That should send a message .

I just wonder why he would let them rot and not eat them . I would have some sympathy for him if he didn't have food and was eating them .

Probably shot them then realized they were small and didn't want to "waste" his tag.
That's got to be the reason although I've got to wonder if he knew they were sublegal.

"None of the moose killed met the legal antler requirements for the area, the antler spreads only measured 45″, 25″, and 26″."
"Only one back strap off one moose was salvaged, the rest of the meat was left on the three animals."

I have very little sympathy for criminals. Poaching is poaching. There are social services which can provide food to feed his family. Illegal subsistence hunting just is not necessary in 2018. If someone is having to poach to keep their family fed then the wheels have really come off.

Some people don’t want to accept govt assistance on general principle. Some people want to take care of their own problems. I fall into both of those categories.

Nonetheless, it’s pretty certain this guy was killing moose for reasons other than either of these.

My statement was geared against the BS reason for poaching. There is no excuse for criminal acts and poachers are nothing more than thieves. They definitely aren’t hunters. If taking care of one's own problems involves breaking the law then once again the wheels fell off somewhere.

The crazy thing is if he’d have messed up and shot an undersized bull. He could have salvaged the meat, turned himself in and proabably gotten away with a minor ticket or a warning. I think this guy was a blood thirsty killer. He was getting a thrill out of tipping over moose with his rifle.

I’m glad they caught him.
