All Gun Owners are Nazi's - So says Law & Order: SVU

I had to look up "Law & Order: SVU" to see what it was. I work for the government (with a bunch of liberals) and they are always talking about different TV shows and whatnot and I never know what they are discussing. I am happily oblivious.

Unfortunately I have several times. Oops, I see that folks think it was sarcasm. Duh on me. Should read all the posts.

I have seen a skinhead at a gunshow (I did not check close
enough to see if his tatoos were generic biker or "Aryan").
He was talking cordially and respectfully to a black vendor.
New York City Police shot a black man for reaching for his
wallet to show them his ID. TV NYPD and TV gun people do
not match reality: network TV is a vast Potempkin village.

JMHO but the quintessential "Law & Order" episode would show a white male reciting the second amendment while disemboweling a poor minority child. Watched one episode of SVU, that was enough for me.

A couple of folks at work were discussing the episode. One of our more nitwitty co-workers was going on about how the rifle in the show had supposedly come from Sturgis, SD(just up the road from here) So I said...If it was made in Sturgis, that makes it a Dakota Arms rifle(only rifle manufacturer in Sturgis). Dakota makes fine rifles that start at about $3000 for a single shot .22 (fine finishing, hand-carved stocks of exotic woods, etc) so the rifle portrayed in the show would run about $7-8000, without the scope. I said I don't see a lot of skinheads plunking down $7K for a "one-use" rifle. So what that means is they just picked some gun company at random to give the "evidence" an air of authenticity to people who don't know anything about guns. I'm sure the people who own Dakota and the 30 or so employees of the company just get a warm fuzzy feeling when they are basically called the gunmaker of choice for nazis on national tv.

I do not about most of you, but I tend to take shows like Law and order at Face Value…. It is entertainment nothing more nothing less… I do not see why people get bent out of shape over a TV show.

60 minutes is a TV show, they say the samet hing. Anti gun groups have 'fundraisers' and say the same thing. Law and Order is entertainment, and says the same thing.

It just keeps bad company. And the presentation of the show is geared to give it an air of credibility. Just like the other sources I mentioned.

(I did not check close enough to see if his tatoos were generic biker or "Aryan").

Aw, come on guys, if we as a group of gun enthusiasts want to be taken seriously by society then we have to also be understanding of other people and their ideas. The label of 'Aryan' should not be tossed around so carelessly.

I have ridden Harleys for about 40 years. I am a club member. I have zip, zero, nada tatoos and I attend a church with a sizeable Afro-American participation.

One of the moderators here is a great guy, P95Carry, and I've come to know him as a fair man, an intelligent debater, and life long biker. Is he also in this group?

This is the true face of American motorcycling. Most of the bikers I know fight for your right to carry a concealed handgun, vote conservatively and have a positive sense of community. They are the kind of guys who you would call at 3:00AM in the morning in a pouring rain to help you fix a flat tire.

If you see a 'tradional biker' and you think 'Aryan Nation,' then may I suggest that you do some research. Contact P95Carry and ask him to chime in on this issue.

Now I'm sure there will be some of you who try parse the concept by pointing out the conjunction 'or,' as in "biker or Aryan." I regard even that distinction as placing us unflatteringly under the same umbrella.

But even if that very biker had beliefs different from yours, shouldn't we be handling this issue with tolerance and restraint? Wouldn't you ask me to treat you in kind?

Ive never seen skinheads at a gun show, nor have i ever seen a table full of Nazi paraphenalia.

I always see some guy selling a table full of Nazi crap. He's there at every gun show I've ever attended.

I stopped going to gunshows in CA because I was tired of the Nazi crap, the beef jerkey, the jewelry and no guns. I stopped watching TV because it was annoying and not entertaining. However, since I am being thrown in with the Nazis, I'd join in asking for a Me 109f-4, a Tiger tank, a Puma armored car, Fallschirmjagergewehr 42, a Type XXI U-boat, Hilfskreuzer Atlantis, Rommel's Storch, Pzkw I (I think it will fit into my garage), Ju-52 for hopping about the country in comfort, a VW schwimmwagen, a kubelwagen and a kettenkrad. May I also have my personal 88 flak gun?:neener:

Thanks for reminding me why I haven't watched tv for over 5 years..

I am a Nazi, I club baby seals, and steal candy from babies and of course am a gun owner.. Yeah yeah yeah, but at least I'm not a politician...:neener:

What's wrong with clubbing baby seals? :D

For The Tourist: Please notice I said the skinhead with the
elaborate body art "was talking cordially and respectfully to
a black vendor." I thought my point was stereotypes are
unfair. Maybe I was not clear. My brother-in-law is a Harley
man: no tatoos and Jerry Garcia hair. My son poured concrete
for some skinheads who had clearly Aryan tatoos (rune S bolts
and swastikas) and scary rhetoric; on the other hand there
is SHARP: Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice. Yes, gunnies
and bikers are subject to unfair stereotyping and yes I have
been hypersensitive myself. Skinheads and tatoo enthusiasts
are also often trashed unfairly.

The people who write for Hollywood want their stereotypes
codified in federal law. If the screenwriters put a skinhead
with tatoos (generic biker or Aryan or Chinese or Maroi) in a
situation with a black vendor at a gunshow, they would
not have them talking cordially or respectfully.

Always Enjoyed Lenny Briscoe

Jerry Orbach on the Original L&O series..howevr, since Wolf's expanded the franchise, the whole shabang has headed south.

As for ratings, if you have cable..especially digital.."They" know what you're watching and when. No need for a diary.

Any time Arbitron contacts you and asks if you'd like to "Keep a diary" it's only because one of the networks is paying for it..and the results will be tweaked in their favor. Just a tool for the sales people to jack up the rates.

Take Care

I like SVU and the original Law and Order but they have a bad habit of getting theire gun facts and laws wrong. Which doesn't make sense since you figure they have to do research for these shows.

Actually I saw a man at one, shaved head, had Miami tan except for under his now missing hair. :) He would ask leading questions of people but was not very good and came across as nervous. I wondered who he'd pissed off or brown nosed in what agency to get the assignment. This was at the Stout Field gunshow in Indy sometime in the '90s. That was a good show but is long gone now.

I dont think we get to complain too loud about our public portrayal untill we take responsibility for cleaning up our own act a little bit.
