Yes, I'll bet you'll do. Coupled with Big Mac and I, we'll get the job done.

Wouldn't bother, done enough hunting and shooting in lifetime to know what works and what doesn't. After hunting and shooting for 40 yrs. nothing is really new. Wyoming is probably a nice state but I doubt if I would do more than drive thru it, on my way to somewhere else. Surprized you only have a population of 550K thats almost as small as alaskas' population. Even the small county I came from in New york had almost 1.5 million.

:)You should stop in.
I've learned more in the last eight months shooting with guys like Ernie, Big Mac, One eyed Ronnie, He will humble you;:neener::neener::neener:. Yes I've shot for 30 years plus, but these guys taught me a whole new disipline.
Chuck, Big Mac, can shoot, Ernie, pistol and all can shoot, Ronnie, best shot I've ever seen, can shoot, Peter, we will be reading about this kid some day.

Just because you've been shooting for 40 plus years doesn't mean that you can't learn, heck you've been shooting for as long as I'm old. Don't mean that you can't see or learn as well as maybe I can learn something from you, just because your older than Dale Earnhart JR. doesn't mean you stand a chance in a race with him. Best of luck in the journey of life it would be bad to go through it and not take advantage of the opportunities that are handed to ya (like a free trip to Wyoming) not picking on ya just poking fun at ya.
GOD BLESS

I've already shot in long range competition with hi power rifles m1, m1a , ar15 at range between 100-500 yrds with open sights. Even hunted with 3 custom xp100's 7mm br, 284 win, 358win HS presion stocks for 20 years for deer and black bear in allegany mountains and adirondak mountains. Used a custom 284 xp100 for wood chucks up to 400 yrds regularly, used 358 winchester xp100 for deer and bear.

Even did the TC contender and encore for a while, before I determined all the problems they had.

Savage striker was pretty good platform , but the xp100 blew it out of the water.

Even used a scoped dan wesson 357 mag on wood chucks up to a 100 yrds.

All the custom and match work on the m1 and M1a ar15 was done on my own, as well as custom fn mauser and remington 700 I was able to blue print or true up at work.

Old employer had a $10 million reasearch machine shop that I could use at night, you could sneak in almost anything at night as long as it didn't look like a gun or part of a car etc. they had no problem with G jobs at work on your own time.

I gave up a lot of the shooting after a ENT Doc specialist said I had a hi end hearing loss and tinitus( ringing) and would go deaf if I didn't give up all the shooting. It turns out the only gun you can safely shoot is a silenced rimfire plus muffs. He told me you have to limit the burst with muffs to 80db and all the rimfire and center fire hand guns and rifles, even shot guns can't be safely fired 150-170 db -33db reduction = 117 - 137 burst to ear.

22lr is about 135db - 33db reduction 103 burst is still pretty high and will do damage over a long time of shooting.

Simple math the ear muff burst must be reduced to 80-90 db.

Note this is info you can get only from OSA or from a ENT Doc, you won't find out much about it from gun websites, you bring up the topic and you seem anti gun right away.

So right now I'm looking into silencers for the pistols and rifles to safely shoot again.

milo-2,

I think this xr1200 was on another thread on this forum awhile back, talked the same BS there too. Wonder why none of us has heard or read about his exploits in any big name gun rags? He sneaks in and uses Million dollar machines? Hmmmm, quite a dandy on our hands, and wouldn't drive to Gillette even if the gas was paid for? Too windy I'll bet.

Yep, same guy, was talking a big blow on that thread about wearing hearing protection, yep, same guy! Thought I recognized his handle!

Didnt read all of the posts, but very nice shooting! It is very doable and very fun. I Just got my 45 minute base last week for my 22. Definitely fun and a good way to win bets lol. Consistency is hard to come by out there though. Chance is one thing, but repeatability is what is fun to chase.

Fwiw I pretty regularly drill ipsc 3/4 size torso targets out to 500 yards with my savage 22. By about 580 or so I am totally out of reticle and adjustment. 22 LR does not really need much barrel, so that pistol is not going to be losing any velocity really anyways. SOO if I can drop them in with my 16 inch, that one will too.

Havent really measured any groups out there; I am usually just going for hits. The best "measurement" I have done is consistent 350 yard two litre bottle hits. Very doable with good ammunition.

Again, nice shooting. Keep it up.

here we go building another fun toy, I'll bet the next one will shoot 2000yds and with a hand gun, wow how amazing you are. LOL

Some might even drive some distance to shoot this one or watch it be shot.
Am I scared? Well, maybe a little apprehensive.
After the first shot, I am sure I will be okay.
Sure the opposite of a 22lr

Hey xphunter, can you believe that this thread just showed up at the front page again. Man that is some kinda wierd. I think I'll have that pistol done for Mark H this week sometime. Did you also know I got a phone call from Dave Louke and the next ITRC shoot will be in Arizona, March 2, 3, 4, of 2012. How's that for a bunch of bull?

What Big Mac is referring to, is a three day tactical match that is physically challenging, has some high volume shooting, and two of the days has a long-range component to it as well.
I have competed in this match three different times. All three times, my partner and I used handguns for every aspect of the competition. It puts us at a disadvantage, but shooting the match using a couple of rifles wouldn't be as fun or challenging though.
You are also under time in this match, hence the reason you see people jogging at times during the field course.
Here is a video link:

After the 09 match I made a long post about ITRC and Lauck put it on his website.
in 2010 I used a center-grip 7mm SAUM XP, whereas in 09 I used a rear grip XP.
