Ammo shipped to Chicago

Does anyone know if ammo can be legally shipped to Chicago? At one point there was a city ordinance restricticting ammo sales. (And handguns believe it or not) I though that ammo could be shipped in now, but an online retailer told me they would not ship to Chicago.

I tried to do some googling myself, but didn't come across anything current.

Well , 2nd Amendment Rights are severely restricted/denied to law abiding Chicago residents , but the incredibly low crime rate in that city makes it all worth while , right?

No-Go. Can't really get around it 'cause almost all online retailers require your ILL FOID and State of ILL ID sent to them before they will process your order. Also, they will only ship to those addresses. Time to move.

In practical terms, no one will ship there. The super-restrictive laws in Chi have been largely cast down meaning you can bring your own guns and ammo into the city without major restrictions beyond the city's AWB. Huge victories--but owing to the ordinance flphotdog cites, the legality of shipping ammo to Chicago is in doubt. To my knowledge there is not yet a single gun retailer in the city either. Maybe it's time to make friends with a non-Cook Co. suburban dealer who'll score you some ammo...

I live in Chicago's western suburbs, in Dupage County (Chicago's in Cook County). Some retailers refuse to ship to me even though it's legal for them to do so because of my proximity to Chicago and Cook County. They tell me they can't keep track of our changing gun laws and don't want to risk the consequences. I don't agree with it but understand it.

I would just try to have it shipped to someone in a different area, hopefully not too far away if you know someone like that. I think bulkammo.com will do it.

Unfortunately they need to ship to the address on your FOID card, unless someone can order it for you under their name. I'm not sure, however, what the consequences are for that person.

I live in Crook Co. (not Chicago) and have ammo and reloading components shipped here all the time. Midsouth & Midway both ship, but require a copy of your FOID.
Also I think you can order ammo from Cabela's shipped to the store. I think you have to phone order not internet.

I don't even know what a foid is and hope I never need to know. You know, in addition to following the constitution, the South has beautiful weather. Just saying.

I don't even know what a foid is and hope I never need to know. You know, in addition to following the constitution, the South has beautiful weather. Just saying.

It's a kinda drivers license for firearms & associated bang products. It helps to keep the murder/crime rate down. Works about the same too. Death rates on IL highways and Chicago murders per year are close in number.
