1000 rounds for each gun may not be enough when you retire soon............ God willing!I do need to order a lot more 22 ammo so that I can have 1000 rounds for each gun.

I don't shoot that much. I'll normally shoot around 500 rounds per range trip. But everyone I shoot with knows that my truck is the ammo depot. We've burned over 2k in half a day's shooting.
I use MTM mini ammo cans to store my ammo, the AC15. They hold ~700 rounds of 9mm and ~400 rounds of .45 ACP.
I keep two cans each of my three favorite 9mm loads in the truck, and two cans each of three .45 ACP loads in the truck, that's ~3500 rounds right there. Then there are the .50 Cal ammo cans full of blasting ammo, one of .223, one of .308, one of 9mm and one of .45 ACP. Those are for the ammo leeches. Then there are the ammo boxes of loads I'm testing.
If I take a .22 LR to the range I just grab a case of ammo and put it in the truck, sometimes it stays in there for a few months. If I take my revolvers I need to add ammo for those, same for my 10mm pistols.
The stuff adds up REAL quick.
BTW, Maglula makes tools to save your hands. I've got a BUNCH of them.
That’s what started me reloading. If you’re interested, have the space, and the time, it can greatly facilitate more shooting.Damn! Can I borrow some money? Geez. I do good to spend $200 a mont on Ammo and a lot of times I can’t do that. As much as I’d like to shoot 500 rds per range session I’d go broke pretty quick trying to replenish what I shot!
I tried saving money by reloading, been doing it since 1984. But all I did was end up shooting more. That’s what started me reloading. If you’re interested, have the space, and the time, it can greatly facilitate more shooting.
It’s not for everyone though.
Yep, I haven’t saved a dime either, I just shoot more.I tried saving money by reloading, been doing it since 1984. But all I did was end up shooting more.
As cheap as 5.56 and 9mm is right now, I just buy it. I still reload all my hunting ammo.
About five hours a night.
I do need to pick up some more ammo cans. I hope that PSA put the Blackhawk cans on sell again with free shipping.
I’m not sure which I will order next, more 9mm, 45 Auto, or 22Lr. Or I could make it easy and order a case of each.
The house is on a concrete slab so, no worries about the floors giving way.
I have never cared for the plastic ammo cans. I have a few that have made it into my house, but are used for range use, not storage. Also, Amazon has the MTM AC3C ammo can set on sale for $22.86 right now.
And the MTM AC4C version can be had for $18.49 periodically.
Sportsmans guide is running a sale on .50cal steel ammo cans. 4 packs for $35. I've been thinking about getting some more. If I have the cans I tend to fill em. I cant stand a half filled can, something to do with OCD. It's why I gave up drinking, couldnt leave a box half full.....1000 rounds for each gun may not be enough when you retire soon............ God willing!

Free Rosie! Why is she locked up in the 9MM?
Nice! I thought it was funny that all the boxes were marked by caliber and one had a name! She was buying her own ammo for a while. So she had her own box.

I have more double deuces than any other caliber. They're fun, they don't cost much to shoot and they hit what you point them at.22's are my first love.
I have my Anaconda and a couple of .357's if I want to feel recoil, but them 22's are just plain fun.I do have bigger stuff, but the thrill of significant recoil has passed me by. I shot 41 mag and 480 Ruger a lot as I hunted with these revolvers.

She’s smart.I tried to explain to my wife how much money I was saving by reloading...trying to get the funds for a new gun, she didn't buy it one bit. She told me that I just shoot more and am always buying powder and primers.
Sharp lady. I could give the same pitch to my wife and she would believe me, I dont even have any reloading gear. See now, that's where I am lucky. My wife is a hockey fan and has season tickets to the local team. Lower bowl. 41 home games. I figure if I pace my gun buying right, she'll have no squawk because I'll just point to that ticket book.I tried to explain to my wife how much money I was saving by reloading...trying to get the funds for a new gun, she didn't buy it one bit. Yep, that’s a critical ingredient. If you can’t find the time or make the time, it’s not an easy hobby to get into.I’ve wanted to get started. Got a charger, scale, trimmer, etc. but I lack time.
you store loose or in boxes?
I'm happily un-married. I have no one to interfere with my spending habits. I once dated a woman that complained that I had too many guns. Like I said, I once dated.I tried to explain to my wife how much money I was saving by reloading...trying to get the funds for a new gun, she didn't buy it one bit. I may add some to my next ammo order.
My Ex-wife liked guns and had no problem with me buying guns or ammo. The problem was that there was never any money left for me to buy anything after she was done shopping. When i met my wife, she was a none gun owner. I said i like guns and always will. And i will spend alot of guns or gear. She does not care as we have different acccounts and split the bills even. All she ask's now "how much did you save on that one?" As i have been buying clearance guns for the past year.
