Angelina Jolie Pro Gun?

If I recall correctly, Angelina Jolie insisted on being trained in the use of the weapons that she was "using" in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I wish I could remember the reference to the article I saw....apologies, I don't... but she wanted to know how the guns really worked, wanted to be trained on them, and certainly was never squeamish or anti in her attitude.

I think y'all who just assume that she's anti and would flush your rights away need to cut her a break.

Cut her break why? She doesn't strike me as someone who needs to be cut a break. In fact, I don't have any multi-millionaire stars on my list of people that need to be cut a break.

The assumption that she is anti-gun has basis. In LA county, you have to be a star or super rich to get a CCW permit. While Jolie is talking about guns and whatnot, she's silent on the horrible situation for normal handgun owners in LA County. Everybody is just mesmerized by her flash and goddess-like looks. Meanwhile, just like all other things coming from Tinseltown, people tend to ignore the substance.

Being pro-gun involves being cognizant of the gun laws around you. If Jolie is truly pro-gun, she would at least bring attention to the situation in LA County. She's silent on this issue because Jolie is probably anti-gun (for normal people). That's where my money is anyway.

(If you're from a "shall issue" state, you probably can't fully appreciate what "no issue" feels like.)

Jonathan Turley was my Professor for Torts in law school - really sharp guy.

Yes,he's been one of Fox New's legal analyst's since the Clinton-Lewinsky ordeal in 1998.
A really top notch guy who's not afraid to tackle any problem. He may call himself a social liberal but I'd like him in my corner any day.
You were very fortunate to have him for Torts.

Is Jon Voight a 2A supporter?

Wikipedia says this:

Jon Voigt's politics can be described as conservative.

He appeared on Fox & Friends on Fox News to endorse former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani for the 2008 Republican Party nomination. He attended a Giuliani campaign event and said New York City was transformed into a much safer, cleaner and more livable city. He said "God sent an angel, his name was Rudy Giuliani."[9] In another interview in Miami with AventuraUSA.com, Voight said he first met Giuliani "years ago" at a movie premiere in New York City and the main reason for his support was Giuliani's poise in the wake of 9/11. In the interview, Voight revealed he and Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton "are friends" and he believes Clinton's chief competitor for the Democratic nod, Barack Obama, hasn't "proved himself in any way yet."

In March 2008 Voight appeared at a rally aboard the USS Midway in San Diego, California for the kick-off of the Vets for Freedom's "National Heroes Tour."

In an April 11, 2008 interview, on the Glenn Beck show, Voight stated that he is now supporting Republican Senator John McCain for President.[10]

In May 2008 Voight paid a solidarity visit to Israel in honor of its 60th birthday. "I’m coming to salute, encourage and strengthen the people of Israel on this joyous 60th birthday," said Voight. “This week is about highlighting Israel as a moral beacon. At a time when its enemies threaten nuclear destruction, Israel heals."[11] Voight visited Israeli victims of Palestinian rocket attacks in Sderot. Voight said his experiences led him to believe that Israel should not negotiate with Palestinian militants for a truce. "They are barbarians," Voight said, referring to the Gaza militants. "They are relentless, looking to destroy (Israel). If somebody breaks your leg, don't give another. Don't play this game.".[12]

Sounds a lot better than most Lala land inhabitants.

Segal is pretty well documented as a liar and an exagerator concerning his pre-Hollywood life. My personal favorite is how he was still doing "wet work" for the CIA while making movies.
As for the "realism" of the violence in his wastes of film stock, I just love how his ego won't permit an opponent to ever be shown so much as landing a blow in a fight scene.
His abuse of Kelly LeBrock speaks for itself.

Doug, I'm really starting to like you. Appreciate your humor. Cook County may be your headache problem. I remember it well.

Five pages later, with more than 2,700 members weighing in on this nonsense and non-topic? Good grief, guys: Angelina is hot all right, but in a nutshell -- who cares whether she's pro-gun? Who cares whether anyone from Hollywood is pro- or anti-gun? Don't we all have bigger, better fish to fry than this?

Yeah, she admitted to having guns in the house and knew how to use them but this is what she said a year before :

The lovers, who met playing weapon-wielding assassins in 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith', have also banned their brood from playing with toy guns because they don't want them exposed to violence.

Interesting double standard, eh?

Segal used to run his mouth about how he or his students would dominate MMA. In particular he talked about how a specific student would easily beat Sakuraba (when he was in his prime and considered one of if not the best P4P fighter on the planet). When ever real fights were offered he was never interested.

He is a joke in the fight community. He was choked unconcious by an old Gene Labell after he claimed he had too much chi energy to every be choked and as the story goes he crapped his pants after losing his faculties.

Akido is highly impractical for fighting. There are thousand of fighters you have never heard of that would smash him. His lies and outrageous strories are well documented. Put him up there with Frank Dux. He got so fat they were only showing above the waist shots in some of his movies a few years back.

He may be able to shoot I dont know but I am dubious given all his other BS.

There are only a few martial arts movie guys I respect in terms of fighting ability. I respect Chuck Norris. He constantly sought to learn more and was a student of the Machados well after he was rich famous and older.

All of you guys who consider Jolie good looking, please make appointments with your nearest optometrist.

Going from Voigt's support of Guiliani, I would say he is a big government(fascist), anti-gun Republican. That is the only type of person who would vote for that man. Hopefully Jolie has more sense than her father. I believe she is a liberal Democrat at least that is what I have read off the net. So who knows if it was accurate information.

But when I was trying to shoot, there were shells going down my shirt.
i hate this! i have a scar on my chest from a .45 shell, though, which is a pretty funny reminder of the first time i ever shot a .45

Dunno if this got mentioned already, but Jolie is on record saying that for us to abandon Iraq would be a disaster, and that we're obligated to stay and see the fight through.

Now that is non-typical in Hollywood.

As well as firearms, Angelina insists she is more than capable of tackling any assailant with her self-defence skills. She added: "I tend to want to throw an elbow - I don't know why. I've learned all the punches, head-butts and kicks - yet getting someone with my elbow is my first instinct."

Angelina, 32, and Brad, 44, are keen for their children to learn how to protect themselves when they get older - because the 'Tomb Raider' actress believes everyone gets into a fight at some point in their lives. She said: "I think it's good for anybody to learn a skill when it comes to fight training - be it kung fu, boxing or kick-boxing. Brad and I want our kids to learn it. They're going to get into a fight some day, so they might as well learn how to take care of themselves."

i wonder if that includes exposing their children to guns... although as somebody posted before, if they don't even want them to have toy guns, i don't know how they'd feel about the real thing.

Agreed,Guiliani is and was a disaster. But the entry goes on to state Voight is now solidly in the McCain camp.
90+ percent of gun despising and Palistine loving Hollywood, is going to vote for Obama.
So Voight ,with all his warts(as has McCain)is still a big stretch ahead of most of these hot tub swirling, latte drinking, elitist LA glitterati, that soil the landscape of what once was a truly golden place.
And he is pro-gun.He whispered it to Ratzo Rizzo just before Rizzo expired as the Greyhound pulled into Miami.

Akido is highly impractical for fighting.

i would recommend aikido for self defense. but you are right for fighting (two people squaring up where neither of them want to run away, grab a weapon, or steal some easy money) it's not good at all.

SSN Vet said
just another liberal elitist who thinks they should have the right to posses what they otherwise advocate denying to the "little people"

That's a totally unfounded statement. Care to offer some evidence?

Not being vocally for something doesn't make you automatically against it.

There are plenty of THR members that do nothing more than come here and read and vote. Not being vocal supporters of RKBA here and in the real world doesn't make them antis.

There are plenty of THR members that come here and beat their chest about RKBA while in the real world they don't do anything more than vote. That doesn't make them antis.

There are plenty of THR members that don't do anything. They don't even vote. That doesn't make them antis.

If a celebrity doesn't advocate for RKBA it doesn't make them an anti.
If they're vocally against RKBA that makes them an anti that warrants attention.
If they are just against RKBA it makes them an anti, just like any other anti.
