BTW: there's a Tolkien quote above, to the effect that it is not the swords, knives, or rifles which he loves--rather, it is what they defend that he loves.
Same thought was in Chesterton: he approached it in discussing war and stated that it was not that the soldier hated what was in front of him (the enemy) rather, that the soldier loves what is behind him (the homeland, the family.)
Thus, war is NOT an act of hatred, but of love.
