I consider the snubby M19 to be one of the best looking revolvers ever. Not my favorite to shoot, though......

A friend of mine had one that he slicked up a bit and with some heavy duty handloads I managed to put 6 rounds all in the black. I surprised myself with that group mainly because it had been awhile since I shot a revolver (let alone a .357 snubby with fire breathing loads in it), but that I did it firing as fast as I could squeeze the trigger! That short barreled Model 19 just felt great and balanced perfectly in my hand.

Well, I should have specified not my favorite shooter with the wood grips (although they look great). Add a set of Hogues and its a whole 'nother story. I have other .357s that usually get the nod for plinking, though, so I keep the pretty trees on my M19

Yeah, the wooden panels look great, I find them much more eye appealing than any rubber grip made. But I have found in these smaller-grip revolvers they’re not much fun at all after a few magnum shots are fired.

I carried my 2.5” Model 19 for several years in a Bianchi shoulder rig so it wears the Pachmayr Compac Professional grips. These grips seem to let me hang on to the revolver through recoil so they’ve stayed on there since the 1990’s.

The 3” Model 13 wears Hogue Compact Bantam grips. They are a tad longer than the Pachmayr grips but they let the pinky hold on so I like these better. I bought this gun used about a decade ago and it had battered factory panels on it. I took them off right away and sent them to the parts bin.

Snakes new gun looks like it’s brand new, it’s in much nicer shape than mine. My biggest mistake was leaving the 2.5” in the holster too long between wipe downs. The tanning solution in the leather took the bluing off the left side of the muzzle and a touch on the cylinder, leaving some small shiny spots. :(

Again Snake, that’s a really sweet one to add to your ever-expanding stable of nice Smiths! Keep it up .

Stay safe.

Your comment alerted to me to my GP-100, so I went to check it. Sure enough, there was a 1/8 inch spot on the tip of the barrel in the same spot as yours. I took it to the kitchen as I have a stainless steel potscrubber there and it did the trick with just a few strokes. Thanks for the heads-up !!

Whew! Just in time .

Damn you, Snake! Now I've gotta make the rounds of every gunshop and pawnship in the entire state this weekend as you have again re-awakened the K-frame (especially the snubby K) lust!

That bluing looks impeccable. Only reason I'm not gonna stay mad at you is that it's not a dash-4 or earlier and not P&R. Nevertheless, a freakin' awesome snub, and I woulda paid 7 bills for that in a heartbeat.

Not really that lucky but I do seem to stumble onto gun deals quite often around here.
Don't buy up everything in Idaho before I retire and leave this state ...
