Another Build or Buy question.

Hey folks!

I'm currently trying to decide on whether or not to buy an Adams Arms AR-15. It's the base model. There are some blems out there for a good price right now.

The other option is to buy a palmetto state armory rifle kit and lower and put it together.

The Adams is a piston driven rifle which isn't a positive or negative to me.

They would come out to around the same price after shipping/FFL fee.

I will most likely change out the hand guard to a Samson Evo on the Adams Arms if I go that route.

Thanks for any help. I've been looking at AR's for over a month and still can't come to a decision.

I would go the PSA route or try to find something with the HG you want installed. If you are going to change the HG on the Adams gun, then you just made them two significantly different price points. Also, I keep away from piston driven AR's although I admit to never owning or even shooting one. The beauty of the AR platform is modular design and parts commonality. Throw some of that out the window with piston systems. No standard and parts may be difficult to find at some point. Added weight to the front of the gun etc. They have always seemed hokey and gimmicky to me personally. Just my opinion.

If you plan on quality factory or good hand loads for ammo a regular ar gas system is fine, but piston systems are usually more flexible to ammo quality, and long term they keep the action cleaner than direct impingement systems. Less parts to break or mess up without the piston too. Whatever floats your boat...
