Another new Hi Power clone coming out

15+1 mag - not compatible with the original. That means the grips and after-market parts that are made for the original grip frame are also not compatible.

We'll see. The ad says, "Made with serious respect for the original," it pays homage to the original, not that it's a copy or clone.

You can get 15 round mags for the originals. Probably just a redesigned follower and modern springs kind of like what they did to original 7 round 1911 mags being made in 8 round versions.

Looking forward to seeing this side by side comparison to an original. I know Tisas had teething issues when they first came out with their clone and quickly rectified that.

Who says the magazines are not compatible with the original?

The price seems to be about right, and we know MSRP and street price generally aren't the same. I'd probably take a chance on one, even if it is a 9mm. I'd really be impressed if they chambered it in 40 S&W. Wonder if regular HP grips would fit; those hokey polymer ones would have to go regardless of the caliber. Some nice checkered walnut panels would be just the ticket, methinks.

My first and only HiPower was a Portuguese-assembled rattle trap that was pretty disappointing, since my previous experience was with a friend's true Belgian HiPower that shot like a dream. I gave it away... and hoped to replace it with a Belgian someday. Quick checks at the gun shows, however, have told me that is probably a fantasy, and particularly since Browning has discontinued them.

All I can really hope for these days is a nice, well assembled copy... hope springs eternal that this one might fit the bill.

Has anyone here actually pursued one of these?

The world can use a good Hi-Power clone. Would like to see it with a spur hammer rather than the rowel. At least they kept the classic design and didn't make it weird, like Girsan did with its Beretta clone with a rail and finger grooves.

If it indeed comes in at or under 500 bucks, I'd pick one up if encountered in the wild...

Upon further review, this offering has some strange appeal for me:

I've wanted a BHP or clone for years, but the ones at gun shows around here have fallen into the 'stupid kind of expensive' category. Maybe I'll find a way to fund one of these to scratch that itch.
