So where we at now after a couple months? Anyone else picked one of these up?

I have to admit I have a bit of a craving for a stainless model. Or are they all stainless but one is painted and the other is not?
The stainless is hard to find. You can find the Cerakote model on www.gun.deals.

Mind telling us why? I'd rather not read that entire thread.

3 Extractors have broken and the importer says they have redesigned it. A firing pin retaining plate cracked. There is a claim that the barrels might be defective, off center with bad crowns.

The extractor and firing pin stop issue has been pretty well known. Several videos that have reviewed them have already mentioned it. It's also why Cylinder and Slide just also came out with an aftermarket firing pin stop.

I haven't heard any affirmative evidence about bad barrels, but just personally for the price I don't care if I had to replace the firing pin stop and extractor.

Realistically Browning isn't making the gun any more. I think its still good to have the base platform available even if it does need some aftermarket love to make it run just right (heck very few of my guns end up remaining completely stock anyways - even my FN Hi Power is sporting a C&S extractor).

BHSS springs stated:

We measured the Tisas barrel at three key points – the Chamber, the Muzzle, and the Crown. The Chamber is 0.022” off enter. The Crown is 0.028” off center. And the Muzzle is 0.004”. This means the Muzzle is good – and the Chamber and Barrel Crown are very poor.

There is some debate if FN barrels or other after market barrels will fit. C&S told me they would not without modification. Barrel profile on the Tisas is not FN spec.

If the barrel is crap and you have to fit an aftermarket or FN I can’t see why you would bother bs buying a FN.

Yuck. Too bad I sold my BHP a few years ago, a minty Mk III... my god if only I could get that gun back... one of the few I truly regret letting go, oh how it sickens me!! :(

I've had a number of Turkish firearms including the Visas HP9 double / single action Hi-Power 9mm and personally I like them and have never had a problem with any of them. Tisas Zigana primarily make stuff for law enforcement and Military contracts and they've been in business for a very long time and they make nice firearms.

I haven't seen or laid my hands on a region in person yet but I'm read some about them and since I already have a FEG P9M High Power, a Modelo star Super B and a Modelo star M40 Firestar a regent would go nicely in my collection . What I'm really wondering is if the Regent is worth $500 or not based on the average prices of the other Turkish Imports as they're generally $400 or less

It is good that a large manufacturer is producing new P35 pistols. The new guns are a reasonable way to own a P35-style pistol for anyone who is not already heavily invested in original Brownings or aging previous clones. Based on more than a dozen videos I readily found on YouTube, the pistols have been on the market in Turkey for a couple of years as the Tisas Zig 14.

Had a nice talk with one of the fellows at Cylinder and Slide this morning. He said they are pleased with what they've seen so far. The guns aren't perfect (unique sight dovetails and a unique radius to the grip tang) but C&S is pleased with the quality and metallurgy. Time will tell and as we get more and more guns out there we'll likely have more and more reports of what's good and bad on these guns.

Anyway, here are two options currently available from C&S. The stainless is their "base package" and can be additionally upgraded from this. Guns in this category start at $1,000.

This second option is this blued model. This is a one-off custom gun and was done to see what was possible with the Tisas. Price is a bit high but probably not outrageous for what it is.

I'm still glad there's one source of new HiPowers, and it seems like they are being respondent with QC improvements. Honestly, these issues still aren't as bad as, say, the Remington R51 debacle...

So, as it stands right now (assuming the barrel is bored right), and you want to put several thousand rounds through it, plan on gutting the cast internals and replacing them with FN or aftermarket bits. I'm OK with that.

Still not selling my T-series, though........ IMG_20180713_043535.jpg

The problem with that 6000rd test is they didn't test a stock Regent Hi Power with stock springs. They tested a modified gun with their springs and SFS safety installed.
The RDIH SFS system replaces the stock hammer and all the parts on page 1 of the following:

http://www.rdih.be/fast-safety-hp35.html

Maybe the SFS system a has an issue that caused problems with the firing pin retaining plate? Who knows as this was a modified gun not a stock gun.
Maybe the RDIH light mount torqued the frame causing additional problems?

I find it odd that there is no mention of what type of ammo was used for the 6000rd test.

I'm not a fan of Turkish clone guns. It makes little sense to me to buy a clone of Hi Power of Beretta 92 when the real thing is readily available and not all that expensive on the used market.

Neither the recoil spring, or the SFS hammer can contribute for the mentioned failures - those are obviously subpar parts. And Turkish guns are well known for having trouble keeping consistent level of quality. Not high quality, just consistent. At the end, you get what you pay for...

What would one expect for a clone. Especially one new to the market. However, the report on the 1911 was slow to post and seems like they were using the forum to sell parts. I agree that the pistol should have been tested stock. I am not big Hi Power fan, just tuning in to learn and see what all the fuss was about.

Are these new to market or just new to the US market?

Regarding broken parts; I broke a firing pin stop on a real 1980s production Hi Power a few years ago. Yeah, it took awhile but the part broke I've also seen a bunch of these crack on 1911s so failures of this type are not uncommon.

Barrels will fit into an FN but not the other way around since the TISAS barrel lacks the alignment nub on the barrel hood. This was something FN deleted on the 40 barrel and maybe deleted on the late production 9mm pistols. If so then we're set. Otherwise the nub will have to be filed off to use in the TISAS.

Read the report

First thing they did was modify the gun with their own springs. Why not leave it stock?
An extractor broke. Who hasn’t had that happen on a 1911?
Firing pin retaining plate? I have had them fall out shooting a Colt
Place sounds like Omaha Outdoors just trying to get attention for themselves

I handled one. I liked it. Probably will get one.

Videos on YouTube under the product name Tisas Zig14 go back a couple of years.

There are some crazy low prices for these at the moment, like 350 on Gun Broker.

If you look at the right time, most of the auctions start at $0.01. If you look at completed sales, the lowest price was $447.00 + shipping.

If those Turks would put a factory ambi-safety on it, I'd probably but 1 or 2 of them.

The only videos Ive seen on this thing were done by the Yankee Marshall. he can be a bit of a goober but hes pretty good IMO.
he had success transplanting many different BHP parts onto the Tisas.

With a certain amount of fear and trepidation I have placed an order for a stainless BR9 from Brownells. The opportunity to own a stainless Hi-power was just too powerful to resist. Couple that with the fact that current relations with Turkey could dry up the market rather quickly.

However, I also intend to do a couple of other things:

1. Install the BHSS Tisas reliability kit that replaces the ejector, firing pin stop, and several other items. I ordered one of these last night.

2. Install the SFS. I actually have an extra laying around that I never got around to putting in my FEG. I do have the SFS in my Israeli surplus FN, and it works very well for me.

3. Remove the magazine disconnect. Just because.

4. Install a set of Uncle Mike's Craig Spegel designed black rubber grips that I have stashed away. These are rarer than hen's teeth anymore, and in addition to having a great feel these should look great against the stainless finish.

5. If and when anyone starts to offer a decent set of night sights to fit these non-standard dovetails I will swap the sights out.
