On a total whim I bid on this gun which was listed on an NRA Benefit auction site. I really didn't expect to get it but low and behold I won, she came home today. It's a beauty, not without a few cosmetic flaws but you really have to go looking for them. The real bonus was my FFL wanted to thank me for my business so he waived his customary transfer fee :) Anyway, $632.50 including buyer's premium, I don't feel too hurt.

I see some range time with her in the near future, can't wait!

I did a trade with a guy who says he has a flawless nickel 5" 27-2, I am working hard to see about helping him find it a good home :D

I had never heard of, or seen a 5" model.

bikemutt, for me it's just the opposite. Five inch Model 27s are the common ones around here. I've never seen a 4" or a 6" Model 27 for sale locally.

You're gonna like that Model 27. I've got 3 of them and they have become my favorites.

I like the balance on the 5 inch version the best.

Iggy, that is a nice gun!

I'm going to have to work this guy hard to see if I can relieve him of the 5" nickel gun.

Now, while I'm waiting, the 4", 6" and 8-3/8" guns must be exercised! It's just not right to let them get fat in the safe :p

Nice aquisition! That 5" nickel you've been talking about must be a real looker too. I seem to recall that Skeeter Skelton preferred the 5" barrel version of the Model 27 over the more typical 4" or 6" barrel lengths. Would love to have one some day.

Great find. I've got a 5",31/2", and a 4" engraved. The 5 is the best balanced. Yes a lot of the old time writers considered the 5 to be the best balance for carry for velocity and sight length. I've got my spare for sale because I bought a performance center and cannot afford three. You will find that a 27 N will be one of your favorite shooters.

Cheers,

ts

OK, went to the range today, no surprises. I just wish I was as accurate as the gun :(

The trigger is very smooth for a Smith, cannot be staged. I'll get used to it :)
