Are there any JHPs that the CZ-75B does not like? Locally, my choice of ammo seems to be :

  • Winchester white box 147 grn JHP
  • Remington UMC 115 JHPs
  • Remington 124 Grain Golden Sabers
  • Winchester 115 grain Sivertips
  • Federal 135 grain and 147 Hydrashoks.
  • Gold Dots, 124 grain.

I've shot 115 grain Winchester white box JHPs and they work fine, but I can't seem to find them locally anymore. Too bad, I like them.

I've personally shot the 147 gr. WWB, the 115 gr. UMC (many hundreds of rounds, actually), and the 124 gr. Gold Dots through my 75B. They all work fine. If your CZ cannot run with most types of factory ammo, there's probably something wrong with it, so you should be okay. :)

Function varies in individual pistols even among the same brand and model. Slight differences in machining or fitting can make a difference in reliability so it's hard to say anything definitive about a whole brand. 9mm HP tends to feed pretty reliably though, more so than the larger calibers as a rule, because of its narrow, pointed profile.

From my own experience and things I've been told by others, CZs tend to be slightly more accurate with 124 gr ammo. I believe they were designed around the 124 gr S&B round, so of the choices listed my personal preference would probably be the 124 gr Gold Dot.

The only thing my CZ ever choked on was overlong LRN handloads I made, not the pistols' fault, but mine, Not one single round of factory ammo has jammed, hollow point or not, in any of the 5 CZ pistols I own/have owned.

Mine likes Hydrashocks, A retired police officer gave me a few hundred, didnt know the bullet weight, but it fired them just fine. I was supprised, even the +P+, was tame feeling in the heavy CZ. This gun has been flawless in every way, in 2000+ rounds.
