So I had shot/fondled a CZ P-07 in the past, took the plunge, and ordered one.

Put it though its paces today, probably 400-425 rounds at the range.

To start I ran a few mags of WWB, some UMC (124 grain FMJ), and some leftover 147 grain Golden Sabers I had. Gun ran GREAT, first 5 rounds at 10 yards were right in the 10 ring and I was making 3-round cloverleafs all over the place. Trigger is solid, no jams, etc.

Then I ran a box of 25 Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain +P (my preferred carry ammo), and those too were accurate, pleasant to shoot, and flawless. Here I'm pretty excited.

BUT THEN

I had bought a box of 250 Magtech 115 grain FMJ's at the store, and had a number of 115 grain WWB leftover.

Man, that CZ hates the 115 grain. FTF, FTE on every mag, brass chucked right back at my face constantly AND it seemed to shoot erratically at 7-10 yards. Anemic ejection had all my brass at my feet (the 124's and better stuff made a nice pile to my right and behind) and the slide didn't lock back consistently.

I ended the day with the remainder of my old Hornady Critical duty and even very, very, dirty it chomped through them flawless, accurate and the slides locked back. So I'm attributing my issues with the weak 115 grain ammo.

So, is this a common issue with the CZ P07 in that it hates weak 115 grain ammo? I know I've heard that some Glocks (none of mine, as my G19 proved today) and H&K's don't like "weak" ammo.

Overall I'm terribly pleased with my new CZ, as when I gave it "good" ammo it was nothing short of fantastic.

Forgot to take pictures, sorry.

My money is on the weak ammo. If I remember correctly, the 07 has a 20lb recoil spring. That might cause the issues with the weak ammo.

I have had bad luck on multiple guns with WWB, but never a hiccup with a CZ, other than way worse accuracy.

The money I saved when buying that crap is forgotten with having to deal with feeding and extracting problems ruining a really good time at the range.

The Blazer, brass or aluminum, is usually just a bit more and much more fun to shoot.

Yeah, I'll have to do some trial and error to see what it likes for practice ammo that's affordable. I know my local shop has Blazer for a good price, I'll probably give that a try. I think the WWB only had maybe one or two FTE that I recall, I didn't have more than a few mags of it, and some of it was pretty old.

The P-07 was pretty stiff (I had cleaned and lubed it) but after breakdown and cleaning this afternoon, I noticed the spring seems like it has loosened a bit, so we're still breaking it in, as they say.

Man, though, when I was doing my part it was pounding the centers out of my targets, really like the way it shoots.

Also, All was not lost. I got lots of practice for clearing jams today and with the small CZ slide, I don't consider that practice a waste.

Make sure there is no gunk on the extractor claw. I had CZ ready to send me a new extractor and spring when I found caked on crud, removed it, and the gun was fine.

Yep, that was the first thing I checked before and after the range trip. I hope to get to the range today with a few brands of ammo to see which might run a bit better in the 115 grain target variety. My local store doesn't carry any hotter (or NATO) 124 grain plinkers, so I'll have to order online or head to the next town to find those.

Hopefully I find something cheap that it likes better.

Ran PMC Bronze and more WWB through it today, ran fine with those.

It hated Fiocchi blue box, but I'm not terribly surprised since I've had issues with that ammo in .40 S&W and .45 ACP in the past (in my Glocks).

At the end of the session I loaded up my remaining 50 or so Magtech that gave me trouble yesterday, ripped through em without an issue.

I'm guessing it was mostly tight springs that needed to loosen.
