I bought a Springfield Armory Champion to be used as my primary carry weapon. It is also my only .45 and I would like to be able to regularly shoot it.

Is this compact Commander style going to withstand the treatment any less than a 5" regular 1911 would? Thanks, BIG BLUE

No problem whatsoever. IMHO once you settle for a carry gun it should be also your target, competition, and home defense gun. The more you practice with it the more competent you'll become.

No it wont so send it to me for safe keeping. ;)

Actually the Champion is one of the "Must Haves" on my list.

I shoot my carry gun (Kimber Pro Carry) every time I go to the range. I practice with it as much as I can. Sometimes I go to the indoor range just to put 100 rounds thru it to keep proficient. Its a must for primary CCW weapons.

All the other ones get exercised as time permits. But they usually see action at least 3 times a month. The CCW weapon gets out at least once a week if not more.

My carry gun, when I get through jumping all the Ohio hoops, will be the Springy 1911-A1 Champion model.

Much as I like my KP-90 Ruger, the Springy is significantly narrower.
