I have always seen lots of coyotes in my area and never fathomed shooting them but there's been a lot of cats gone missing and problems with the deer population as well as cattle populations the majority of the coyotes are in the hills a mere 5 minutes from my house. So I'd like to start my predator hunting career
Anybody have tips for hunting coyotes I'll be using an SKS with a peep sight and a .303 Brit with a scope

What brought me success last year was to set yourself up with an electric call about 50 yards behind you, with the wind in your face. Yotes are even more jumpy than deer. Scent control is huge. I used a primos mouth call to bring one in last year, but my most success came with a remote electric call. www.cabelas.com has them for under $50....

If you bait, don't call. Just bait.

Good luck, it is a blast. I go at night here in Maine. I have seen 3, and got one so far this deer season.

Im not allowed to hunt at night nor am I alowed to use bait I'm in Canada. I bought a predator hunting magazine and they have some good predator cover scents that I'm going to buy I've called yotes with my own vacals before it came within 10 yards of my position before it seen me.
My area is mostly hills with balsam pine and sage brush with some really good vantage points

I bipod (or mono pod) can be really handy. It doesn't have to be expensive. Cabela's had a nice wooden one on sale a few weeks back for $9.99. Or, you can make one yourself:

I like to sit on the ground with my back up against a tree. In the winter, when the ground is cold and covered with snow, something like a "stadium seat" is nice to keep your butt warm and dry. Again, doesn’t have to be expensive. You might already have one. Mine cost about $5 on sale a Wal-Mart and says "Green Bay Packers".

There is a $50 bounty on them here...but let me tell you they are fast. They have done alot of damage to deer and turkeys in some counties and have moved east in the state very rapidly

If you could be given any of these 3 calibres for coyote, deer, bear, and moose what would it be? .308, .30-06, .270. I'm just curious because I might buy 2 guns before the new year one will definitely be an SKS but I might buy another.

If you reload I'd say either .308 or 30-06. There's a great selection of bullets out there from 110 grain all the way up to 220 grain. I'm not sure if Hornady sells a complete 110 grain V-Max for the 30-06 or if you have to roll your own. The heavier bullets are certainly readily available.

No doubt the 30-06 of the 3 for the game mentioned imo. For yotes only that sks will work well.
