I finally saw the Rock Island 1911 in 22 TCM with a extra 9mm barrel.

The whole concept intrigued me.:) Can always switch to 9mm.

Now of course I need another caliber like I need a whatever but it is kinda cool factor.

Seems LEE an Hornady make dies but they are pretty expensive, only one place I found that has them and the components.

I want a single stack bad, but gun money is scarce these days. I suppose I could sell something I could live without.

Reloading should be fairly straight forward.

If they made the 22 TCM barrel conversion for an existing 9mm 1911 I would have already had one.

I have two 9mm 1911's and I'm not buying another one just for the 22 TCM.

I really do not want a Rock River 1911 but a drop in barrel for some other platform for the 22 TCM would be cool. I guess that will come sometime.

Wonder if it will die on the vine. I bought a 327 Fed Magnum (which I really like) but that round did not progress as well as they hoped.

I bought one for Christmas, the double stack with the 9mm barrel. Back problems have kept me from going to the range. I did load some rounds. Tried cutting down .223 brass, but the necks were too thick. Needed turned and reamed, and I decided to buy some new brass instead of the tools. Very little data available, mainly using H110 or Lil-Gun. Only dies available were Hornady, Lee was too busy making other dies. Don't know what the status is now.

Just looked at www.ammosupplywarehouse.com and saw that Lee dies are now available.

I want the rifle.
Just Right carbine already has 1911 and Glock mag wells for their AR carbine.

I don't think it would take much to make a 22TCM barrel to work with 38 Super 1911/10mm Glock mags.

If Lone Wolf makes 10mm to 22TCM conversion barrels, I am ready! :D

If you haven't shot the TCM pistol yet, it is a blast to shoot....literally! It is loud, has a big flash, and has minimal recoil. I have had mine for over a year and still have a hard time getting the smile off of my face after taking it to the range.

The ammo is relatively cheap, I picked up most of mine for around $20-25 for a box of 50. I ordered most of it off the ammosupply website. I saved up about 500 pieces of brass and just finished reloading it for the first time.

I ordered my dies and bullets from ammosupply. The dies are expensive, bullets relatively cheap. Supposedly Lee also made dies at one point, I couldn't find any for sale.

I started my first test loads with Lil Gun. I found pressure signs really fast at low end charges. Given my relative novice in reloading and great need for my hands, I decided to go with the recommended H110. Using the load data that came with the dies, I found a good load with 9.5 grains of powder. I have not chrono'd the load yet, but I fully expect it to be less than factory ammo velocity based on what I have seen on forums. While the little round shows impressive speed out of a pistol platform, the true cool factor is the "thunder and lighting" that comes out of the end of the barrel. If I can accomplish that while retaining a functioning pistol and hands, the smile may become permanent :)

I have the target model, and it is a blast to shoot but in not a big fan of reloading it. Bottleneck pistol cartridges are finicky and finding bullets that are short and feed properly is a bit tricky. My big problem has been while seating bullets to the max oal, they simply fall into the case or get pushed in while chambering.

The guys at cast boolits have shown success with
225438 – 44 gr RN GC
225107 – 37 gr RNFP GC This is a .22 Hornet bullet.

I have the pistol and reload with no issues. I had to screw the sizing die down a little bit but that was easy. I use the bullets from ammo supply whse. I use their load of 10gr H110. Everything works great.

Been shooting reloads for a short while. BTW, Lee and Titan (one of their dealers) have dies available for way less than elsewhere. I've a set of hornady, so I can't offer opinions on dies. But I'm using 10 gr H110 as pretty much std at this time. Have been altering 223 cases which works, but not really time efficient. From what I've done, make sure you use perfect lower cases, any dings will fail after a few loadings. (Altered 223s that is). I've been casting lead recently, using the NOE 225-37 mold. I'm sizing and adding gas checks. Just powder coated some the other day, have to shoot to see how they do.... Terribly small bullets. But I have small hands.

Lee makes a crimp die for the .22tcm

If the neck tension is so poor the bullets
simply fall into the case or get pushed in while chambering
then a crimp won't help. He needs to fix his neck tension problem.

I probably should have clarified first off, I've been trying to use the commonly available bullets that I've had laying around including 55gr pulldown and 42gr frangible. I'm sure I would have no problem with the proper bullets, but what's the fun in that?
Btw, the 42gr works pretty well when loaded backwards.
