When I was a kid my father, brother, and I all shot single shot 410 or 12ga......squirrels, rabbits, quail, pheasant, prairie chickens, coons, possums, pigeons, and the occasional duck. Even killed chicken eating dogs with the single shot 410 or a single shot 12ga. My father finally saved all his pennies and bought a Remington 870 12ga. We all desperately wanted a "repeating" shotgun. That meant a pump or a semi-auto, but NEVER a bolt action shotgun. To us that was the worst of the worst. I have no idea where that thinking came from, but it was unshakeable. How was I to know they could be so useful??
