AR .22 conversion. Sticky

I've got a .22 conversion for an AR 15. Don't recall which one. But it sticks about halfway into battery. Or close to battery which allows the trigger to be operational but render soft strikes. I traded uppers and have the same issue. The thing "seems" to function fine out of the upper. Ideas? Thx
If it is a CMMG, call them! They helped me sort out mine.

Here’s what mine looks like. Maybe you could file the top flat down on the conversion where it’s interfering with the gas tube. If it were me that’s what I’d do before cutting off the tube and effectively destroying the AR functionality.

Isn't that interesting. They cut the conversion. But I get it and I don't. The gas should be entering the "gas key" and with this mod, it's allowing the bolt to not bind with the gas tube. I decided to cut the tube. It's a $5 part and I got this barrel for this project. Post the surgery on the tube, the binding issue is gone! But I'm not getting the firing pin to make appropriate contact. Now with my cold going on for the fourth day, I've decided that TV and lousy movies shall protect me from making stupid decisions in the gun room. When I get feeling better, I'll take this back up. Thx for the pics and help. OH, I'm told to take my pills and drink plenty of fluids and I'll be better in a week. I asked what if I'm noncompliant and was told that it would take seven days!

I ge
NOOOO!!!! Lol! Relieve the top of the bolt assembly to clear the gas tube as shown in 1KPerDay's photo.
I the idea but it just doesn't seem to make sense? As in the gas tube should be in alignment with the port on the bolt?

Is this a dedicated .22LR gun or will you be swapping back and forth to 5.56? If you're going to be swapping then it is critical that the gas tube be the correct length and at the correct location to mate with the carrier key on the 5.56 bolt. If not you don't need the gas tube at all.
Not the difference in your bolt and 1KPerDay's bolt in post #25. The .22LR conversion is straight blowback as in almost all .22 semiauto guns. That is not a port on your bolt.

Every AR conversion kit I've been around has had one problem or another; a lot more "swearing at" rather than "swearing by."

Which is why I finally just broke down and got a dedicated 22lr version, a S&W 15-22.

Now, this solution may not work for everyone. And, I got a screaming deal on this. The S&M mags are not cheap, but they are about the same price as the conversion mags, and there's no confusing which are which in the range bag.

Mines a CMMG conversion
Has been great.
I have one too. I do get some problems with the bolt not closing completely after 70 to 90 rounds. Since two of my AR's are not equipped with forward bolt assists, i just break it down and clean the bolt. Then shoot some more. Not a big issue.

Yeah, sure gotcha ya. Thx. Dedicated build but good advice. I'd guess there wouldn't be enough pressure to cycle the next round? But naw, it's a .22 range toy.
