I Hope that this thread isn't a repeat, but I found this interesting. Doing some research for a new carry gun, and came across this:

http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&idp=1&ids=3&idz=171&lang=en

I just don't understand how this would be applicable in any tactical situation, maybe someone could enlighten me on this. But would be nice to help with lunch after the practice session. Also anyone have any advise on where I could purchase a holster for this rig, that doesn't require me to cut a hole in the back of my suit jacket :scrutiny:

It's not serious bro/sis, it was something that CZ cooked up to show off the new rails they put on their guns a few years ago, people saw it, laughed, and said "I have GOT to have one."

Nobody seriously regards this thing as an actual viable weapon... I hope.

I don't see where CZ is joking. It looks like they are seriously advertising it. Maybe a half joke with the hope that they sell a few more guns to morons.

Not a new idea, BTW. Elgin cutlass pistol.

Yeah Gun Tech, I remember that pistol. Did it have a high capacity magazine also? Oh, yeah.... it took a long time to get the second shot ready. That actually is a tactical solution to a serious problem back in that day. Thankfully one we don't have today....unless some of the more extreme gun control folks get in office. I don't think that CZ is joking. At least I hope not, and I don't see any other serious manufacturers joking about their guns.

I don't see why it is such a big deal. Does a manufacturer have to be "serious" all the time? It is a funny gimmick and if you have the money to buy it more power to ya.

Folks, the only reason CZ makes it, is people buy it.

Do any of you really think it has any value to anyone beyond novelty or "yuk yuk look what I got" appeal?

CZ is serious to the extent that it sells it as an accessory (the image below I ripped off form Bud’s).

And besides, I really, really want one.

Yes, you really, really do. I have a Tactical and it’s excellent, like all CZs.

FWIW I think the bayonet is silly as well, but I got the SP-01 in spite of it.

They only brought in about 100 of them, yes, it was considered more of a joke than anything else, customer response to the original is what got the few in the States. Just a curio/collector item.

I just picked up a CZ SP01 today. Next thing on my list is that tactical block. Why? Just to have. My shooting buddies'll get a kick out of it. The bayonet comes off the tactical block, BTW.

And, yes, this has been brought up here before. Quite some time ago.

Well, in CQB, it would keep someone from pushing the slide out of battery.

That's actually the purpose of the tactical block. The leading edge keeps the slide from being pushed out of battery. I have no idea why they decided on a knife attachment. Maybe they didn't think there'd be much of a demand for screwdriver bits.:D

Besides, I want to get one before somebody outlaws it.

Not a new idea, BTW. Elgin cutlass pistol.

Made more sense back in the old days. Considering that it would take a forever to reload that pistol during a fight, it might be nice to have something like this handy to repel an attacker until you have a chance can reload. The same can't be argued for CZ. Full capacity for this gun is 18 +1 rounds (or is it 19+1?).

"Fix bayonets! Chaaaaaarge!"

This is an excerpt on the subject from the Mall Ninja Gazette:

Tacticool Pros:

1. Looks cool.
2. Allows pistol whipping without marring the finish on the gun. The bayonet can be put in the dishwasher.
3. Allows you to cut your steak at restaurants with extremely dull knives.
4. Avoids slide-out-of-battery issues.

Tacticool Cons:

1. Adds length.
2. Can be uncomfortable with Mexican Carry.
3. Difficult to use with open-bottom holsters.
4. Not well-balanced for throwing.

By the way SouthpawShootr and others. I would like to point out that many of the blade blackpowder guns where actually for nobility to use as a status symbol and for craftsman to show off their work. Most would never have seen a fight or even be loaded.

I think it's funny, the guy I know that has one got it for the heck of it not for any serious use, myself I am going to buy one for the same reason.

I guess you could use it to slash people but it woudln't be good to stab people with. It isn't practical it was probably just drafted up so they could sell more stuff to slap on the gun.

It may seem ridiculuos but with modern tactics a bayo on a rifle isn't really that effective either. But we still make rifle bayos! :neener::evil:

Oh yeh! You just tell that fella issued the Sharps with a coffee grinder not to bring a knife to a gunfight!

He's going to say: "You kidding me!? Uncle Sam Issued me a shooting coffee grinder!" "Of course I'm bringing a knife to a gunfight!" Bringing my gun and my coffee cup too."
