Armslist no longer free.....

I hate that. You have to be so cryptic that no one knows what you’re trying to sell. At least on Armslist I could call it a gun.
Ever state out here has a local forum board. In Ga its www.gon.com. Cant remember the one in Va. But I sold a few on the Va forum. Just google state and firearm forum. Plenty of options out here.

Keep in mind that the issue is that the FREE service isn't FREE anymore. Shouldn't really be complaining.
Not exactly. I have no problem with paying to sell, but I’m not going to pay to sell on a site where users also have to pay in order to contact me. You would be paying to gain access to a very small audience. They really need to rethink this aspect of their new model.

You're right. I could contact sellers this morning but now I can't. They must have been in the process of changing that. Definitely a poor business move on their part.

What bothers me the most is that I was contemplating sending someone a message last night on a shotgun listed, and I decided to sleep on it. Well, I clicked on "Contact Seller" this morning and was given that "you need to upgrade" message. Grrrrr!!!!!

Never seen a good deal on armslist, and I never ship guns. I use texasguntrader for my deals.

Maybe it's not great in the area you live in, but I've picked up plenty of great deals locally on Armslist. Most recent was a 9mm SIG P226 a couple weeks ago that came with a.40cal slide/barrel and SIG branded laser and 4 mags for $700. I sold the slide for $350 and the laser for $33, and now I have a like new P226 with 4 mags that I've only got $317 in.

With the sheer volume of add traffic I’m surprised they don’t make absolute bank.

Have you seen the ads they run? It's pure garbage clickbait "People can't believe what this famous actress looks like now" type stuff. It seems to me Armslist is intentionally trying to go under, because I'm sure a good ad sales team could pick up plenty of accounts from the firearms industry if they tried.

Good point, they’d be way better off with more adds from manufacturers.

You can add your phone number or email address to your ad but that means every scammer can see it. Paying to sell and paying to buy is like going to a gun show. But at least there you can get some sample popcorn and jerky.
I had a pistol listed on there but took the ad down. I'm going to wait and see how all this works itself out.

I’ve had good luck buying and selling on Armslist. Just need to be cautious and follow your gut. I wouldn’t mind paying a few $$ if they’d just get rid of the damned premium vendor stuff

That's a real shame. The owners must have assumed that there actually (now) still is a "gun panic"....nope---.on the contrary, here in TN !
Everyday day I Iook at listings of Sigs, S&Ws, some CZs and even HKs plus Makarovs (the "real" Maks). Almost every gun I glance over has been listed for weeks, and most prices are not much above the present market.

Anybody now trying to Create "gun anxiety" is desperate to unload an item to bring in cash, or inherited something, and they just want to party or pay bills.

So I glad that I listed guns there over the last several years. Armslist allowed me to sell at least a dozen guns (and several large 3,000-rds. batches of milsurp ammo).
Such guns never attracted attention at our small shows; always very slim odds that an interested buyer would show up.

I agree that requiring payment to contact a seller is likely to kill the site. Strong disincentive to buyers.
Terrible policy.

Rats - AL has been really useful to me.

I have huge issues trying to sign into my account and messaging sellers that's never been resolved after emails to armslist. Glad all my guns have sold.

I have used The Outdoors Trader for all of my FTF buying for around 4 years now.

There is still GA Packing.org but it doesn’t get as much traffic anymore.

GON.com is another

Outdoors trader exists in other areas but the other two are GA specific. Google around and you will find regional hunting and/or gun owner forums.

When I lived in MI the two I used were MI Soortsman and MI Gun Owners.

In OH there was OH Gun owners.net and Buckeye Firearms or something like that.

In KY there was KY Hunting.net

Look around. I’m unsure how much traffic any of those get anymore because forums tend to come and go sometimes. There will be a few around you though.

Thanks. Hadn't heard of most of those. Buckey I'm familiar with. Never had any luck selling on there. Just posted an add on that OH Gun Owners site. We'll see how it does.
I didn't know they have Market Place and Trading Post before, they are not active at all, maybe the Armslist fee charging will move folks to there. Armslist basically drives people away and likely go down in couple months if they don't change back.

The Kentucky firearm specific forums are either entirely dead or very nearly so. The hunting one might actually be a better spot to try to sell because I think it still has some active members. Kentucky Armory Club is no down to about six guys actively posting and KY Gunowners is completely defunct. You would think a state with such a strong gun culture would reflect that in the virtual world.
