ATF going door to door

Having two sons, over the years I have bought 2 handguns multiple times at the same time. Never been delayed, nor have I ever had a "knock" on the door. Must be more to it.

I am glad to see that most people here are viewing this video critically.

To be honest, I'm getting a little tired of these gun youtube influencers jumping right to sky-is-falling panic and dread. Could it be that they are trying to drum up view counts? Has "social" media become the new "main stream" media? My immediate take on this is that this is not a normal procedure, thus, something else must be afoot here. Something is hidden from us. With that said, all Americans really need to know their rights and the limits placed upon the government by the Constitution.

Has "social" media become the new "main stream" media?.

Unfortunately, MSM has burned 90% of their bridges so yes, people are weighing information from other sources.

The good thing about the video in the OP is that we at least got to see it. We can make our own judgments and seek more info. The MSM nightly news and websites probably will never show it or any thing similar.

I picked up 3 .45ACP handguns on the same day in 2011. And yes the ATF did pay me a visit based on the multiple handgun sales form that the dealer had to submit with my information. I also had two lawyers provided which was nice. If this visit was prompted by something other than a multiple sale form, I would have a bit more interest.

If they are requesting to view anything that I keep in my house, or any of my property, that is a search.
Again, a request to see your guns is just a request, and not a search. You are free to decline such a request. That's pretty easy....just say "Nope."

If they want to search your premises, they'll need probable cause that a crime has been committed and have to explain that to a judge. If he agrees, he'll sign the search warrant.
This is easily learned by watching Law & Order, Perry Mason or Cops reruns.

The title is misleading, they are not randomly going door to door
But misleading thread titles get more clicks babeeeee!
Click here for one weird trick to keep ATF from ringing your doorbell.

The ATF has been checking multiple gun sales for a long time. Whats different about this?.
Social media.
It get clicks and views.

I'm getting tired of THR members breathlessly posting such videos.
-It ain't news
-It's been going on since 1968
-Too many THR members have become the marketing department for YouTube.

It IS normal procedure and has been for decades.
I'm am curious as to why ATF and local LE are doing such a multiple sale check together.
Seven guns since January? Them's rookie numbers.

With that said, all Americans really need to know their rights and the limits placed upon the government by the Constitution.
Nothing in the Constitution prohibits LE from asking a person questions.

That's what I wanted to see also. Did he show the guns and they left? I'm guessing he showed them and they left without incident...

How many did he buy? 2 or 7? If someone is buying 7 guns at a time and it's an area where straw purchases happen frequently, I'm glad they are out trying to reduce criminal behavior. The gun community always shouts that we need to "enforce existing laws" and then they start enforcing existing laws we freak out even more.

It's kind of overkill to show up with 3 agents dressed in tactical gear but if something went down 3 guys could get outnumbered quickly.
My FFL is in Houston and I frequently buy 3-7 FFL items at a time when they are on sale (mostly AR lowers). I also try to consolidate my transfers to them and pick up anywhere from 3-6 at a time every few weeks or so to save on paperwork and $. As of yet I haven't had any visits from these guys. Maybe I'll be the next guy they visit though if this is a trend.

I think you are exactly correct about the intent of 3-4 of these same content type YT channels using clickbait titles to bump up views. And even though they are presenting themselves as "citizen journalists" they certainly don't hold themselves to any journalistic standards of verifying with multiple sources before they publish their sensationalist content.

They haven't been to my place yet. Then again, I don't buy new handguns at all. The only firearms I do buy are older, what I consider collector items. I get the 'boogy man' vibe on this one.
We as gun owners and citizens of this nation should be watching for governmental misconduct. Which is not the same as getting the vapors at every instance.

Yep.

Yep again. There are zero reasons to have trust in the ATF as it is currently configured.

Working for Les for 21 years, and especially after he got his class III license ( or whatever they call it ) I have come in contact with a lot of ATF people. I never saw one with red skin or horns on their heads. Every single one I interacted with was polite, helpful and friendly.

My lawyer disagrees with you. If it is in fact an actual demand to search
No, your lawyer wouldn't disagree with me at all.
A request is only a request. I can ask to see your sock drawyer....it doesn't mean you have to consent.
If you do consent to such a search, anything they find can be used against you.
And the video in the OP clearly show them asking to see the guns, not a demand to search the premises.

The devil doesn’t have red skin or horns. He comes in the form of a friend, family member, or S.O. With that’s said don’t answer the door. If they want to see your collection they can get a warrant. If one must meet with them do it on your time. Set a meeting. Have an attorney if possible. If not show them what they want and keep your mouth shut. They are not your friend.

This is speculative garbage.

The narrator speculates the guy didn’t buy all the guns at once but he does not know that. I don’t want the ATF on my porch either, but creating the existence of some shadow database from this guy’s speculation is irresponsible.

You'd better look at the video again; The Goon Squad CLEARLY had the database in their hands.

Nonsense.
What he had is a printout of that buyers Multiple Sale of Pistols & Revolver forms.....that dealers have been required to submit for more than half a century.
You can buy a pistol from me every Friday for a year..........no MSR.
But buy two within any five of my business days and I email a copy of that multiple sale report to ATF that night and a copy to my CLEO the next day.

Database?

Having used Armslist about twenty times over several years, most of us realize that guns acquired / sold

...with this ---perfectly legal method---..

in Most states, If buying 2-3 guns at a time, or just one, can not be traced except in rare circumstances.
