Hey alduro,

Just wait for the 'rug-rats' to show up.

Something about food vs. ammo?
I thought ammo was food:rolleyes:

But hey, it's all good.
Already have a target on the wall in the game room for the 3 yr old to shoot w/ his 'lego' guns.:D

My wedding was "spoiled" by one of my consulting clients that was in to Harleys. I was about to buy a V-Rod before we got married. Wife decided to have a fancy wedding instead. Every time I walked past the guy, he'd whisper "could have had a V-Rod."

You'll learn. My wife would have never known about the $400 (or whatever) you got from the M9. If you don't tell your wife what guns you have, you don't have to explain the new one or where the old one went. Get a safe to "hide" them in. Then make up a combination and tell it to her when you guys are doing something. She won't write it down and she forgets what it is. That, plus the fact she has no interest in them whatsoever. :D

Yeah, I think Sunday @ 1:00, Alduro and Hawk are meeting at DFW in Dallas on Mockingbird...pretty sure about that.

Hey, thanks all for being supportive of my only 1 weekend day off work schedule. It sucks, but thats the biz I am in. Saturday's are just not an option for me. I do appreciate your consideration though.

As a side note, I am "usually" off at noon on most Wednesdays if someone wants to get together once in a while for some plinking.

Here's some additional info to chew over. I asked TJ Pilling about doing a defensive handgun course, similar to the one his partner John taught at Gunsite. I also asked about the availability of dates at TIGER Valley in Dallas. Here's his response:

We have April 11th open or May 9th, or May 23rd all are Sundays. I just left the range with a shooter who shot 1000 rounds shooting drills in four hours. We can do anything you guys want as far a pistol goes. Let us know what you have in mind. The only time John will be available will be May 23
As you can see, they're willing to work with us if we can nail down a date. Comments?

May 23rd...is very bad for Alduro...it's my soon to be wife's Birthday..and she'll absolutely spend MORE of my hard earned cash if I take a day of training that day. April 11th might be good but May 9th would be way better.

The price discussed with TJ Pilling was $35/person. This isn't cast in stone, as I'm sure it could change depending upon the number, but I think it's a safe target price. In addition of course, would be ammo costs. geegee

ok, well you can count me in. may 9th would probably be best for me, but I could work any of those three dates in if necessary.

May 23 looks goof for me for more than one reason...Fits pay schedules great for a large amount of ammor needed. Also, my birthday is May 20th, so it would be my gift to myself :D

BIRTHDAY?!?!? what are you gonna get yourself? an AR? a Sig? how about a nice speed feed for that Winchester?

I let Hawk give my 870 a whirl...he seemed to like it. Man what that thing does to paper....:D

Hey...I just noticed we have a private chat room...very cool...we should use it.:p

Guys I voted yes that I do have equipment for a carbine course but I gotta know...what do we actually need? What are the carbine requirements?

detachable mag?

pistol grip?

what?

Carbine:
Needed: Semi-auto rifle with detachable mags, mags, mag holders, safety gear.
Recommended: Sling and sidearm for transition drills, kneepads, water, hat.

That's just off the top of my head. I may have missed something.

Edited to add: Come to think of it, I guess you could get by with some types of rifles that don't have detachable mags, but it might be kind of awkward, and I'm not sure if you'd get your money's worth.

Hey I thought I would let you guys know here that I would be willing to meet 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 for personal handgun training to get you to more of an intermediate skill level concerning defensive handgun skills. I will meet with anyone willing to do this at the "Winchest Gallery" IF they are okay with issolating us....

my training is as follows:

1.) **** (you know where I work) qualified with Sig Sauer 229 .40 cal. & Remi 870 12 ga. Academy basics.

2.) Executive Specialist qualified....this will only be of pertinance for drawing from cover, all other stuff this covered is situational awareness etc. Oatman and Associates/Fed. (most may be taught WITHOUT pistol, red gun will suffice.

3.) Force on Force Defensive Tactics, Dallas PD and Strike Force intl. MUST have red gun or airsoft gun (better) and a LIVE weapon.

4.) Thunder Ranch....(scaled down version "on site") concerns room clearing, engagement, eviromental awareness, psychological states, tactics etc. Good stuff...most can be taught WITHOUT a gun, just need a red gun. Threat recognition.

you know the email

[email protected]

also...anyone with specialized training in carbines or shotguns...email me, let's hook up.

Anyone interested will need about 300 rounds and a GOOD holster to draw from concealment. NO "soft" holsters like an Uncle Mikes IWB. Also will need snap caps if you're gun requires them for dry firing. A vest, button up shirt or whatever you would normally conceal a weapon with needed. This is a Buddy deal only...please don't invite someone I haven't met.:D

Not to be a jerk but I don't want to get shot trying to do someone a favor.:uhoh:

I like the May 9th. The 23rd is our wedding aneversary and if you see me on that day it may be the last day you see me - lol

Alduro I like the above idea and you answered most of the questions I asked in the e-mail I just sent you.

Although the $85 for the 6 hour class sounds very reasonable the $35 sounds a lot better right now.

Nik

Did we nail down April 18 as the next shoot? Is it still rifle? Did we ever nail down a range? Gibsons? TDSA?

I think our April shoot is a rifle shoot and I was under the impression it is going to be at Gibsons... We probably need to firm this up by this weekend so we can all make arrangements.

I have started work on putting a web page together for us. I should have something for people to look at in the next 3-5 days. I will post on Yahoo when it is up. Remember...this is very preliminary and is free at this point. If we actually put it into action, we will of course have to pay for it, assuming we have enough interest. I think you will like it when you see it. I am working on getting a forum on there for us to use. This will likely be the most difficult part of it.

Still haven't stepped up to the plate and gotten a rifle.
Wouldn't mine doing a rifle shoot if it would not be too much of a problem w/ sharing of the wealth.

Have been considering getting an SKS sometime soon and would like to try that.

If this is kosher, what ammo should I get for some of you w/ long arms available?
7.62x39? .223? ???

For those of you that are rifle challenged, I have several ARs that I can bring, along with several bolt action rifles. I'm tossing around the idea of my first AK (I'll blame alduro for that), as well. Pretty much everything will be in .223, or 7.62x38 if I get an AK.
