I rarely see a divide of opinion concerning firearms use and safety among our members that can be attributed to age. We have a diverse membership but I have no idea what our average or median age is. IMO, it tilts towards the grey hairs but then a specific topic comes up and I realize that there are a lot of younger shooters out there. So, I am posting a poll to see what our age breakdown is. This is not a public poll so your answer is random. If you wish to add a comment about your age, please do. This is mainly a data collecting poll.

I am old enough to have experienced walking into a Woolworth’s with my mother, selecting a 7mm military Mauser from a large cardboard drum full of rifles, going to checkout with a few dollars and walking out of the store with the rifle - no different than buying a loaf of bread today - the only thing guaranteed in the universe is that it will change.

I remember walking around in an auto parts store and seeing a large galvanized trash can filled with Springfield 1903-A3 rifle for $35. I thought how expensive because we bought them from the NRA/DCM for less.
A song applies:
"Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end"

Unfortunately, those days did end.

I'm at the early onset of "middle age", which means I've been around long enough to know I do actually know some things, but I've also been around long enough to know just how ignorant I am.

I share what I can, but THR is still a place I come to learn more than anything.

The poll should be interesting, as there are over 210,000 members. However it would be interesting to have a subsample of just us regular posters also.

I remember that same thing with Woolworths! Not only did they have surplus rifles they had a very nice selection of handguns, including a matching pair of the Colt Centennial SAA Peacemaker/Frontier revolvers!

The day I was born was so significant that the leaders of the Allied Nations all got together at the Anfa Hotel to celebrate. Unfortunately my Dad didn't get the news until a few weeks later so he missed the whole party.

I am much younger than my birth certificate indicates....

Must be nice.....I'm pretty sure i feel double my stated age. Between years of weight lifting and Too many dangerous hobbies i guess I've just broke and injured too much. People think I feel great though.....so there is that. Lol

I'm 37, but looking at high schoolers walking around these days is making me feel like I should have selected "40ish".

I turn 37 in a few days. I chose 40ish. I always round it up

37, but I'm not ready to admit that I'm closing in on 40 so I picked 30ish.
@bassjam said it best for me. I'm 37, but looking at high schoolers walking around these days is making me feel like I should have selected "40ish".
Hold on to your youth gents. At age 35 I switched over to a desk job, and by 37 my health was noticeably starting to deteriorate. Despite lifting weights and doing pushups in the evenings at home 5 or 6 nights a week, and walking 2.2 miles 4 to 6 days a week on my lunch break, I'm still deteriorating. Stay as active as you can.
