A great article on avoiding the increase in street violence due to shootings or demonstrations. Probably more important to understand then whether you should carry a Glock 17 or Staccato. Or your split times.

The Tampa shoot was 1 street over from the HCSO operations center and visible if you walk to the intersection. Word up is it was gang related nothing in the news but that is the sanitised version.

Read the article - very well said... I'd add a bit of advice given to my wife regarding urban disturbances years ago... If you're driving somewhere and see the road blocked up ahead (by people or vehicles... and not an accident scene or traffic control deal...) do everything possible to avoid getting trapped in whatever is going down, period... then leave the area -no matter what your intended destination was...

Amen! Always scan beyond the immediate block, and remain ready to detour before becoming hemmed-in.

any peacable civilian who is caught up in violence is by definition being ambushed. uncle sam drilled into my noggin in 1972 that the first rule of surviving an ambush is to “get off the x.”

common sense isn’t all that common.

“not your people, not your problem” applies in the macro sense as well.

yup, get out of there. I'm not a pro or a subject matter expert, but my understanding is people can yell at you, try to open your doors, bang on your windows, and you are stuck and can not do anything other than rev your engine and flash your lights, maybe yell back. If they break your windows, then all bets are off as that is not intimidation, it is violence and your level of effort to escape violence against you is greater than what is allowable to escape intimidation.

Distance is your friend in any possible dangerous situation whether you're on foot or in a vehicle (including boats...), period. When I first got into law enforcement - fifty years ago now, I didn't know that at all and I was already an Army vet (although not a combat type at all...). Learn it now or wait and learn the concept the hard way -the way I did - but learn it, and use it as the first principle in any possible confrontation... That's what I'd teach any rookie (or new armed citizen) from the very first moment.

I still maintain that your actual tactics in any possible bad situation - are more important than your skill with weapons - all day long...

Greg is a very talented author. I read his book earlier this year, and have given out a couple of copies to friends who travel.

Avoid protests, street parties, and large gatherings of inner-city yutes.

That's kind of city life 101.

Has the author been living under a rock for the last 8 years?

Does he not remember Antifa, BLM, and all the crazy protests and riots we had just a few years ago?

I'm glad Kyle Rittenhouse (not mentioned in this article) got off but I still say he was dumb ____ for being there in the 1st place.

Yes I agree. A new rule here in the household with a vote everyone said yes, GF, kids, 2 dogs & even the pet guinny pig (LoL)

No WALM***o_O except weekdays between 11am-3pm, and only on sunny🌞 days AND UNDER NO CONDITIONS...first 3 days of the month 😂🤣
You do know that Walmart will deliver right to your house right?

The only thing I actually go to Walmart to buy is Bananas and only that because when you order them delivered they pick the most beat up and oldest bananas they can find and that's what they send to your house

Even if one is a sports aficionado, sports stadiums may now be a place to avoid.

Federal law enforcement has stopped several or numerous (???, they are not going to share the real truth with the public) migrants illegally entering the U.S. who are on watch lists. These individuals may just be from countries who hate America, or they could be those who have evidenced suspicious activism in years past. The number of people stopped is by definition a small sampling due to the tidal wave of undocumented migrants.

The FBI has come out and said that America is in a state wherein we are at significant risk of a terrorist attack. Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East (beginning 7th Oct. 2023) and the very real possibility that that conflict could envelop that entire region, the level of hatred for the United States around this planet, our open borders, and the reality of ongoing massive smuggling operations, it is VERY possible -- if not overtly likely -- that there will be a terrorist attack against our nation within our nation's borders in the coming year. Think about the tens of thousands of people who gather in sports stadiums. If that's not a ripe target, I don't know what is. It is a certainty that Federal agencies are doing their best to prevent such attacks; however, their mission is nigh unto impossible to bring about. I wouldn't want their job.

In Europe, migrant criminal gangs are smuggling-in machine-guns and hand grenades. Look at what is happening in Sweden as but one example. In the Middle East, heavy mortars, RPGs, recoilless rifles (i.e. light artillery), ... on and on, are regular black market trade items. Think about all of the cargo ships bringing-in millions of tons of large containers. Think about all of the trucks coming in from south of our border. One can only search a mere fraction of that.

Not that I've ever been big on attending big events, I sure wouldn't be attending any mass gatherings in the here and now. Currently on Earth, pure evil is out and about. I'm a lazy non-paranoid kind of guy and I'm saying this.

Side note: If I need something from there, I will continue to go to WalMart ... one might get to see a sampling of the "interesting" people :alien:. I keep hand sanitizer in my car. 😉 Too, I'm not going to let crazies spoil life's fun. Just going to be careful.
