Just shot my NIB Benelli SuperNova today. It's with an 18 inch barrel and pistol grip. Only got to fire 25 - 30 rounds (various turkey and buckshot loads) and all worked flawlessly.

The forend and trigger guard make the gun fugly, but it's an awesome home defense gun for under $500. Especially when you consider it can take 3 and 3.5 inch rounds.

My only question: the SuperNova is supposed to hold 4 + 1 rounds.. I could only load 2 rounds into the magazine tube at a time. Is my shotgun defective?

Thanks

Snake, I assume you aren't too familiar with the hunting uses of shotguns. In most places (if not all) game laws state that a hunter may not have more than 3 rounds in his gun (with a pump/auto, this means 1 in the chamber & two in the mag). This is mainly to prevent duck & goose hunters from having tube extensions that carry 15 rounds and being able to down entire flocks. Anyway, there will likely be a wooden or plastic stick in your magazine tube to reduce its capacity and make it legal for hunting. If you LOOK IN YOUR MANUAL, you will find instructions on how to remove it. Congratulations on your new shottie.

In regards to the capacity issue, as stated before, you will need to remove the red "plug" from the mag tube. This will give you a 4 shot capacity.

BTW- You consider the Benelli SuperNova as "fugly"; to me this is nonsense. The SuperNovas, and in particular the Benelli SuperNova tacticals, are some of the sweetest looking shotguns available, unless you are a purist who only fancies the whole "wood" thing. Benelli chose to create a "modern" styled weapon rather than to merely re-invent and/or rehash the "traditional" and frankly, boring stuff. Personally, I applaud Benelli for thinking "outside of the box." Its a shame that others dont feel the same way.

IMHO, dollar for dollar, you have one of the finest pump shotguns money can buy (especially within the sub-$500 range). If I had the funds, Id probably own 4 or 5 of these beauties. Enjoy!

I'm certainly not a purist lol. I just don't like the angular look on the trigger guard, same with the HR Giger's Alien-looking forend. :p

Heh, each to his own I guess. Personally, I think "futuristic" weapons, for the most part, simply look cool and very distinctive. JMHO......
