I checked Powder Valley today ~ they are selling the HHP's for 9mm.

BERRYS .356 / 9MM 124 GR HHP (250) Yes $43.45

Also available in 1K quantities also
And here I was, checking Berry's web site. Who would of thunk!

Thank you for posting the update!

Good to know. Have you had an opportunity to test the 45 HHP's yet, kcofohio?
Yes I did. I used CFE Pistol. I purchased the 200 gr. HHP. Berry's had Muzzle Velocity: 970 fps printed on the label.

At 1.190" COAL, I worked up to 7.9 gr. to get that velocity in a 4" barrel.

They do look to be good quality and uniform.

I will probably be placing an order for the 9's in the next couple of days.

Were you pleased with the expansion of the new design? Just curious...
First, I had to edit post #35. It should have said 7.9 gr. and not 7.6 gr.

This was my first time trying to retrieve bullets.

So I took to the range 5 1 gal. milk jugs of water and a sawhorse. Had the jugs lined up in a row. Both my shots were square on the leading jug. Entry holes were clean. After that, the holes were ripped/torn.

Took my first shot at about 5 ft. The bullet passed through the 1st jug and entered the 2nd. The bullet exited out the left back corner, which was torn open. No bullet recovery.

My second shot entered the 3rd jug and exited the 4th jug in corner, but with 3 holes, and a ripped open top. Again, no bullet recovery.

I'm not sure if the bullets were braking apart or what!?

The 5th jug, I put 3 shots from an LCR 38, LFN. Clean holes front and back. :)

I was able to look the grounds over near and around the sawhorse. All I got was somebody else casings.

The bullets lifted the jugs off the sawhorse with the HHPs and splashed water back at me. It was interesting, but disappointing that I didn't retrieve and of the bullets. Sorry, but those were my results. :(

I have done some bullet retrieval, and it can be discouraging. The extra holes you saw may have been the petals breaking off, but I doubt the bullet is disintegrating. The best way to test them is to shoot into a 55-gallon drum filled with water, but that can be difficult for a variety of reasons.

Guess I may have watched way too many Youtube videos. Thought, surely it would be easy. :D

Yeah, I think the 55 gal. drum is out for me. Maybe I will make one of them earthen boxes.

Thanks for some insight on this, Havok. :)

Another idea just came to me. You can put the jugs 3-4 wide and 5 deep. They shouldn't go far laterally.

Maybe with the expansion on this particular design, something other than water jugs will fit the bill. Thanks for giving it a good try ~ got me thinkin' about wet-pack as an alternative

Anyone else got ideas?

Hey Art, what does a wet pack usually consist of? I saw once where some guy shot into some water logged phone books.

Somebody else built a wood box, maybe 8-10" deep and pack dirt into it.

There are many ways of going-about testing with wet pack.
Water-soaked phone books, newsprint about 12" thick with loose-bound ends (to allow expansion of paper when soaked), 5-gallon buckets filled with soaked paper, etc.

It makes a mess but is the poor-man's way to satisfy our expansion testing curiosity

I'm sure that there may be better methods out there; I'm all eyes & ears.

I'm lookin' forward to trying this new bullet, as Gold-Dot's are hard-to-find :uhoh:

We will see if they live up to the hype.....

Michael Fundaro @ Berry's mentioned that the 147gr variant is currently in development :D

Artofgolf, thanks for keeping us in the loop regarding these HHP's.

Can you perhaps take some measurements and post the length of the bullet and the length of the trunk/body of the bullet. I just want to get some idea if they will work in 357sig. Making 1125fps will be no problem in 357sig.

I measured the length (sample of 10) of the 9mm HHP's 124gr.
They were consistent @ 0.538" to 0.539" throughout.

A little shorter than Gold-Dot 124gr bullets with their elongated ogive.
I would urge a bit of caution if you get some & try to load using GD published data.

Art, thank you for the update! And for the velocity off their label.

Just placed an order through Powder Valley.

I'm surprised that they still are not listing their 9mm HHP on Berry's website.
