Some more I forgot

Guns, Guns, Guns--Guess Who

For What's It's Worth---Buffalo Sprinfield/Neil Young

Ohio---Crosby, Stills and Nash/Neil Young

I thought about making it strictly pro-gun---However I believe in the First Amendment, as much as I do the Second...So, if someone want to sing an anti message, SO BE IT....

Gimme a freakin' break. The First Amendment means the government cannot limit free expression, it doesn't mean that we, as private citizens, have to present both sides or allow both sides to be presented in everything we say or do. If I (or you) start a thread for songs that are pro-gun only, IN NO WAY is that a violation of anyone's right to free expression.

no ones mentioned this yet

What This World Needs is a Few More Rednecks by charlie daniels

now thier tryna take my guns away

if they take em away from the criminals first

Filter - Hey man nice shot

I wish I would’ve met you
Now it’s a little late
What you could’ve taught me
I could’ve saved some face
They think that your early ending
Was all wrong
For the most part they’re right
But look how they all got strong
That’s why I say hey man nice shot
What a good shot man
A man
Has gun
Hey man
Have fun
Nice shot
Now that the smokes gone
And the air is all clear
Those who were right there
Got a new kind of fear
You’d fight and you were right
But they were just to strong
They’d stick it in your face
And let you smell what they consider wrong
That’s why I say hey man nice, nice shot
What a good shot man
A man
Has gun
Hey man
Have fun
Nice shot
I wish I would’ve met you
I wish I would’ve met you
I’d say
Nice shot

I like everything ever done by Johnny Cash and the Rolling Stones, but I think I have to go with the Star Spangled Banner too after considering everything.

OH COME ON!! Everybody knows that the best song involving guns is Johnny Horton's "Sink the Bismark". "Shells as big as steers and guns as big as trees"
I love that song.

I must confess that I've not read every page of this long thread but I'll put out one of my favorites: Elvis Costello's "Allison"

"I know this world is killin' you
Oh Allison, my aim is true"

A couple that nobody seems to have mentioned yet:

Something in the Air by Thunder Clap Newman

"... hand out the arms and ammo, we're gonna blast our way through here ..."

Small Change by Tom Waits

"... Small Change got rained on with his own .38 ..."

Guns only mentioned once in this song

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

One of my favorite songs...

Oh, you guys just reminded me of one I heard on a Hatfield and McCoy cartoon I saw about 1956:

Pass the biscuits Marandy
I gotta load up ma gun
We'll use those biscuits for bullets
We'll set them varmits on the run...

I can't believe I still remember that one.

Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner by Warren Zevon. For that matter, there are a number of excellent songs by Warren with firearms (Lawyers, Guns and Money, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead). It's a shame we lost this great singer/songwriter.

Warren Zevon?

Yeah - I have one of his albums - has a 6" Model 19 on the front. One of the pics inside was of him and Hunter S Thompson shooting .357's (without hearing protection no less) in Warren's backyard.

By backyard, I hope he had a ranch - then again, him and Thompson were kinda ...um...different

Pro-Gun Songs?

Ok, hows this for pro-2nd amendment rights?

Ya stay with 16 homies, and one in the hole
When the first one gets out, the next one goes
To know where ya headed, ya gotta know where ya been
The Glock stay with me, we's friends to the end

----50 Cent "My Buddy"----

One of the more printable parts of the song :D

Bad Company - Bad Company
Company Always on the run
Destiny is the rising sun
Oh I was born 6-gun in my hand
Behind a gun I'll make my final stand
That's why they call me Bad company
And I can't deny
Bad company
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Rebel souls
Deserters we are called
Chose a gun and threw away the sun
Now these towns
They all know our name 6-gun sound is our claim to fame
I can hear them say Bad company
And I won't deny
Bad Bad company
Till the day I die
Till the day I die
Bad
Bad company
I can't deny
Bad company
Till the day I die
And I say it's
Bad company Oh Yeah---Yeah
Bad company
Till the day I die Oh Yeah Tell me that you are not a thief
Oh But I am
Bad Company
It's the way I play
Dirty for dirty
Oh Somebody Double-crossed me
Double-cross
Double-cross
Yeah
We're Bad company
Kill in cold blood

These may not mention guns the most, but they are some of the best songs involving guns:

Francine - ZZ Top
Tin Pan Alley - SRV
For Those About to Rock - AC/DC
The Trooper - Iron Maiden

I agree with whoever first listed Hey Joe; that might be the best.
