Can I inquire with you gentleman (and ladies if applicable) what you would recommend as a a finish type for taking a stainless steel bull barrel and turning it black?

As a starting point, Google "Caswell Stainless Steel Blackener" and see if that might do the job for you.
As someone who has worked exclusively with Duracoat for the past year, this is one type of finish I would not use on a temp sensitive area.
Duracoat makes a high temp finish, but its more of an after thought instead of a focus.
