Hey guys!

Not really sure if this is the right place to post this question. But as you can tell by the title I have a question about Blue Label Glocks. I am a LEO so I am eligible for a blue label Glock correct? Second if I am can I purchase one for my own personal gun collection and have it for non duty purposes? I know these might seem like odd questions but I just learned about these today when my sergeant was talking about this great deal he got on a Glock 22 4th Gen. He told me it was a blue label gun, but he did not fully explain what it was to me as he was taking a short day and wanted to leave. So thanks for putting up with my stupid questions!

Your questions aren't stupid. Lot's of people come into the store that I work in with similar questions. The Glock blue label program was initially set up to provide a discount for Law Enforcement and other service personel as a means to obtain a duty weapon. If you are a police officer, EMT/Paramedic, contract security officer or a member of the armed services you can take part in the blue label program as long as you show your credentials and fill out the appropriate Glock paper work.

The way I see it, if you are buying it for personal use or duty use it may still be used in the service of others, therefor I have no issue with you receiving that discount. Talk to your local dealers and find one that participates in the Blue Label program. Just bear in mind they can only sell you a blue label gun at the reduced rate. They can't sell you just any Glock on the shelf for the blue label price.

Thank you for your service to others and welcome to THR.

Probably not... but call him, don't ask us!

By the time you pay shipping, transfer fees, and the sales or use tax, it will end up costing just as much as buying one off your dealers shelf.

I've bought a few. There isn't much difference these days other than the color of the label. Just like normal, some are equipped with standard sights and others are equipped with night sights. They're basically glocks sold at a discount to 1st responders. My gen4 34 blue label came with standard sights instead of adjustable and a standard 5lb connector instead of the 3.5. I change the sights anyway because I'm a fan of warren-sevigny sights and a 3.5lb connector set me back a whopping $10. I saved significantly over an off the shelf gen4 34.

Untrue. You save significantly with your 1st responder discount. You put money down, it comes in with their next shipment and shipping doesn't cost you. You pay the same fee they'd charge for a gun in stock. If the shop won't work with you on your 1st responder discount, it is a lousy shop so go find another. You get similar discounts on m&p's.

Feel free to PM me.

Edited to ad: If you purchase it, yeah...it's yours. Buy as many as you want. It's even legal to buy it and gift it to me if you're feeling especially generous. The blue label is a normal glock, just sold to 1st responders at a discount. I need a 10mm. ;)

Go back and re-read. He wants a blue label dealer to ship a gun to his local FFL... that's going to cost him shipping and a transfer fee. If the gun is coming from out of state and the OP is an honest guy, he'll also pay his use taxes (which are typically at the same rate as sales tax).

There's just not much to be saved and avoiding that headache is well worth the few bucks that he might save...

Depends entirely on what local dealers are charging. Several around here (over) charge enough that I'll still save money even after paying $20 or so for shipping and a $5- $15 transfer fee.

Shipping won't be $20-- it has to go overnight. You're looking at $40 or so there. Around here, dealers charge $50 for handgun transfers.

That's a lot of inconvenience to save $10.

Differences in location. I've paid $20 to ship a handgun more than once. I also pay only $5 for transfers but $15 is the norm.

For me the savings are more like $100+ compared to an overpriced local dealer, even if I tacked on $25 shipping and FFL transfers.

Uh.........nope,
There is no law that says DEALERS must ship overnight via a common carrier....only mortals must do so.

Licensed dealers and manufacturers can mail handguns via USPS for a lot less than $40......not to mention many get tremendous discounts on Overnight or next Day service from FedEx or UPS.

Don't forget the tax... whether a use tax or a sales tax, you still owe it.

In our shop, the difference is about $75. Glock does this first responder offer for less that we buy (in huge volume!) directly from them. They are undercutting their own dealer network, and trust me, dealers aren't happy about it.

I noticed!

But it isn't about the dealer, it is about offering discounts to first responders. Personally, I applaud glock and smith for doing it.

Those same dealers pay a LOT of money for rights to sell Glocks... and there is a MAP (minimum advertised price) that Glock enforces on it's dealer network... they are not only undercutting MAP, they are selling those guns to "first responders" for less than they sell them to their dealers.

Many smaller gun shops rely on LEO sales to stay afloat... this undercuts that.

Glock should be ashamed of themselves, and frankly should be providing reimbursements to their dealer network.

Yes you are eligible for the "Blue Label" price. The last two Glocks I purchased all that was needed was my DL, Work ID & a small stack of cash. You can't beat $398.20 for my last Glock 27 with standard sites, I purchased this and use it for personal use.

Only Glock "LE Dealers" get the blue label Glocks, and Glock has a MAP price on the Blue Label guns just like regular Glocks.

If you are a Glock LE dealer you can price those Blue Label guns however you want.....Glock only sets a MINIMUM price....not the stores sales price.

You are missing my point. The blue label sales price isn't just below MAP, its below COST! That's a problem for dealers who have paid dealership fees for the right to sell Glocks.

:scrutiny:
What "dealership fees"?

I've never paid any such fee for any manufacturer.

Mikef262 you may check with your Sgt., Lt, or firearms instructor as they should know. Does your department carry glocks? If they do they should have a dealer that Should be more than happy to walk you through the process. My department is on the west side of TN, but our dealer is on the east side of TN. All it took for me to get my blue lable g23 was a signed letter from the cheif, sending a fax of the signed letter, an email and a phone call for credit card payment to get it sent to my department. I did have to pay tax and shipping and the total price was around 450 for the gen4. The gun itself was around398 plus tax and shipping. No transfer fees involved.

Becoming a master dealer for most brands involves buying a dealership, no different than a car dealership. The agreement requires that you stock x amount of their product in exchange for a discount.

Yes we carry Glock 224th Gen. We just upgraded not to long ago from the 3d gen. I never thought to ask the armorer where he orders them from. Thanks for the idea!!

HK does it as well. You should check them out as well. Quite competitive, if not as absolute dirt cheap as the others.

I drive 2 hours (round trip) to buy at a Blue Label dealer. Even at $4/gallon gas in my POS truck, it still saves me a decent amount of cash over buying from a local shop.

Blue Label Discount / Prices

:what:LE/Military Discount Program for Glock Blue Label Firearms
AUTHORIZED LEO/BLUE LABELED PISTOL CUSTOMER LIST and prices...
(Same as Glock Smyrna's prices)

The way it works is that Blue label pistols are designated for sale only to those qualified for the LE/Military discount program. There are a variety of other folks that qualifiy as well, as the list below indicates. If you are eligible, you can call Glock in Smyrna, Ga.(770)432-1202, and order a pistol from them, and arrange a FFL local to you to receive and transfer the pistol. Right now I believe it's an 8-12 week turn around from Glock. Or you can ask for a Blue Label dealer in your area and they will tell you who in your area is able to sell to you. Dealers are all different...some will ship to your local FFL...some will require you to come to them...You have to work out all of the details with whomever you are purchasing from. i.e., ID/proof of eligibility, DL, etc. At any rate, there is a substantial savings involved. The basic 9mm's, .40's , .357 sigs are as low as $398.20 w/3 mags. It goes up from there...The following is a fairly comprehensive eligibility list...

*All sworn Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) State, County and City
*All Federal Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) FBI, US Marshals, DEA etc
*All Retired LEO with "retired" credentials including Federal, State, County & City
*State Licensed Securtiy Companies (ie. Loomis Fargo, RAM, Securitas, etc)
