blueing question

hi guys i am re doing a h&r single shot stock and in the process i got some stain on the reciever [i know i should have taken the buttstock off to do so] and i need to know if a touch up blueing pen will cover up the stain on the metal of if it needs to be re blued properly..thanks in advance for the replies

The stain wouldn't come off with mineral spirit and perhaps a toothbrush?

No, a bluing pen will not cover up paint stain.

Yes, almost any paint solvent or thinner, or fingernail polish remover on a Q-Tip will take the stain off the metal.
