Haven't seen a factory two-tone yet, so I offer up mine in .357Sig...this was it, new & fresh outta the box. Since then, it's probably had 1000 (flawless) rounds put through it.

Hey Sneaky,

The 229 is a great pistol. I bought mine in 357 sig and added a 40 S&W barrel. I have the hogue non finger groove grips on mine and love it. It is my cooler weather / higher threat carry piece. With 12+1, 25 with the spare mag, of either caliber in the weapon I never feel under gunned.

Enjoy your pistol!!

Any ideas on a good source for ammo (online or otherwise)??

A great deal for 357 SIG ammo is Georgia-arms.com

They have both an economy range ammo product ("canned heat") and defense ammo which uses Speer Gold Dot bullets. Both are good values.

American Eagle and Sellier and Bellot are also decent choices for economy range ammo. Natchezss.com and ammoman.com would be good places to look. But my first pick would be Georgia-arms.com; less expensive, the ammo is just as good, plus you get those cool green boxes :D

For premium defense ammo Speer Gold Dots and Winchester Rangers are good choices.

Thanks antsi!!

I better get that show on the road, it's gonna be this week (YESSSSS!)

I stilll haven't seen my gun's identical twin. Has anybody got a pic of their SIG 229 in black, with hogues?

I've gone with the Sig 229 in 357 Sig for a year now, after carrying 1911's for 30 years. (Still will use a Commander once in a while) I got a Wild Bills No Such Agench IWB holster and the chubby Sig hides well.

Well, gents, I picked her up Monday, and I have to say, this pistol is gonna eat more than I do!! Ammo price is not much fun, but I'll live.

I've never owned anything this fun to shoot (except maybe my Benelli M3 - I came home with serious 'Benelli Shoulder' for a while) before!

Accuracy is absolutely SICK! Maybe some of it is the new cart, but I'm grouping way tighter than I ever have with my other carry pistolas.

Funny thing, though. I bought my Glock, and my non-gun savvy friends were just enraptured. Everybody 'oooohhed and ahhhhhed' for the Glock. Now I bring home the mighty and powerful Sig, and nobody gives a crap! Guess I can thank the stupid movie industry for that one...

Steve-
Congrats on the new Sig. Benellis and Sigsl, looks like you have excellent taste in firearms. My first Sig was a 226 now I have a total of 4 Sigs. I liked the d226 so much I bought an extra one and had a gunsmith(Bruce Gray, [email protected]) that specializes in Sigs work the trigger and a few other things. They are excellent reliable and accurate handguns. .357 Sig is a fun round. What part of CA do you live in?

I'm here in good old land-scatter (Lancaster), which is a relatively conservative town compared to the rest of the PRK.

Not much good for indoor ranges, though... :barf:

You might consider getting a .40 barrel for your 229. The .40 and .357 barrels are interchangeable, and even use the same magazines (if you look, the magazines are stamped ".40/.357").

I have a conversion barrel from Bar-Sto that changes my .40 into a 9mm. It is deadly accurate and cheaper to shoot!.

I installed XS Safety 24/7 Big Dot sights on mine, since I use it primarily for CCW.

I, too, just bought a P229. I ordered it in .40, but also purchased the .357 barrel. I went with the Nitron finish (s-e-x-y!) and night sights. I also ordered the Lasermax (ouch on the wallet!), but that is mostly to be used as a dry fire training tool. I'll post some photos soon!
