BP wins again!

The past year I have been shooting my BP revolvers a lot more in place of my rimfires/ I have maybe 500 rounds left of rimfire and am hanging on to those! I'll find a Bucket somwhere...
In using a more powerfull revolver to pratice with my groups have improved! I always have components out and available to really load and shoot if need be!
Who'd have envisioned this MESS?
Untill things subside snd regular ammo supplies resume, we will need to substitute and try and not get mad! Who'd have ever thought RF would be impossible to buy? Certainlly noone was ready for such an attack

I too, haven't been able to find any rimfire ammo in my neck of the woods. I've gone from simply frustrated, to infuriated. We all know who's to blame here.

I've been loading a lot of .38 Special, .32-20, .30-30, and .410 slugs to use as plinking ammo. The .38 and .32-20 get loaded with BP most times. One thing is for certain, I can't use a .22LR revolver as a pocket gun for going to the woods anymore, so I've taken to my .22 Super Companion cap and ball for that purpose. .44 cap and ball and .38 Special are staples of my shooting nowadays.

I got fed up with the whole RF game and bought a 357 Nag abd a few .38 Specials! Did a little hand loading once and would like to learn more!
Even shooting factory .38's the cost is worth the BANG! Great accuracy! hard hitting 158 gr RNFP Oregon somthing... got silver alloyed in the bullets! Little harder alloy.
Preformance was really good for the first tie! My Model 10HB shot tight in S/A mode. light pull, crisp, quick break! Makes for consistancy because you know what iscoming! Good calibers! My Vaquero loves +P 125 grainers! Sort of a mini 357 mag...!

My old pattern was to shoot rimfire for about 2/3 of a range trip and then switch to a centerfire gun. That kept costs down while keeping the length of the trip worthwhile and was still good practice.

Same thing now but black powder instead of the rimfire most days. My .22 stash isn't that bad but the black powder's a lot of fun and it does mean I haven't had to worry too much about burning through my .22 supply very quickly.

That's all I've been shooting for the last 20 years or so, my modern firearms all sit and collect dust now. With my 1860 Army with conversion, do I really need anything else???

Maybe I'll just go to a gun show and sell the whole lot of them.

I went from shooting 357 most of my range trips to 9mm and realized it was costing to much to shoot. Then i switched to .22 a month or so before sandy hook and got mostly ammo that year for christmas i shot threw it like a fool then realized i should of held on to it.

I asked for more .22 for my birthday and got one 50 round box cause my brother could only find one place that had it and that was the limit.

I almost started shooting pellet guns but decided to try the BP guns. I havnt shot anything else since.

Ive still been buying .22 and i think ive got about 2k rounds saved up now but to be hones i have no interst in shooting them. BP is just to darn much fun, the holes are bigger and easier to see at a distance plus i think they are more accurate cant beat it.

Only downside is the cleanup thats the only part im starting to tire of.

Not me.
I've even had to trim way back on BP shooting because caps are now impossible for me to get.
22LR and 22Mag are just unobtainable around here. I have some ammo but will not shoot it for fear of not being able to replace it.
9mm is same same.
I have resorted to shooting modest amounts of 38Spec.
I need to get a flinter.

I shoot BP in competition.

I did practice with 22LR so I did not have to clean the pistols. No ammo and no caps now, so I have gone to air pistol to practice. I can get all the pellets I want.
