Peter Hamm, of the Washington-D.C.-based Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, questions what he sees as the "lunacy" of those who are buying guns and fear-mongering the complicated issues of gun owner rights and gun control.

"They demonized Barack Obama as the worst threat to gun ownership ever and scared people," Hamm said. "In this economic environment, I question the sanity of extremists who are buying up guns. What kind of choices are they making for their families?"

Who'd a thunk it.....

I'm sure they have been keeping an eye on sales. I wonder if they have figured out that the greater part of the American people don't trust them yet.. :what: Pretty obvious to me. Just as obvious to me that the rush on gun sales and the complete wipe out of the ammo market is less because of Obama and more due to the uncertain times. Even the soccer mommies can see things are getting scary out there. We all know that a person has to be able to at least hold the goblins at bay until the cavalry arrives. But some of the media educated are just starting to crunch the numbers..

Let's see.... About 500,000 police officers in the U.S at any given time.... 300,000,000 people at the moment... HHHmmmm About 10% of those are criminally inclined. 30mil goblins and maybe 1/2mil good guys.. :what: :what: :what: HONEY......WE NEED TO GO BUY A GUN!!!!! :banghead:

It scares me to think what this place will be like if we have another depression like we had in the 20's. Makes me glad I live on a boat.

I would expect no less arrogance and shallow rhetoric from the Brady Campaign. It must infuriate them to see how many firearms have been sold over the last few months, the many newcomers to firearms culture, and the disconcerting fact that many "progressive" citizens are realizing that firearms are (1) necessary to preserve freedom; (2) darn fun; (3) and invaluable for crime prevention and deterrence.

They're thinking that they trust the government a lot less than ever before in their lives. They imagine that if this government proves to be as ignorant as imagined, they may need something loud and flashy to get their attention.

Agreed trailrider. The half-way intelligent Constitution-loving American will likely react to this the same way they would to a terrorist group giving out free airfare coupons and releasing a video saying everybody should take a vacation soon.

Just exactly what does he expect me to do with my money? Invest it in the American economy? My investment portfolios have been PLUMMETING. It's better for me to keep my money under my mattress than it is to invest in the stock market so incompetent CEOs can throw it away on half assed plans, then expect me to loan tax dollar money to them when they fail so they can continue their incompetence. CDs and bond rates have been low, because people are flocking away from stocks. EBRs on the other hand, have double in price since last October. Who wouldn't want to invest in the 100% return rate option?

Well I question the sanity of those who don't care to protect themselves and their families. Crazy government-relying-on-extremists!

Heh, heh. Well well.

"Stop that. Stop demonizing our President like that. WE are the demonizers around here, and if there's any demonizing to be done, WE'll be the ones doing it..."

"There's good demonizing and bad demonizing and you gunnies are definitely on the bad end, so stop it right now. Or we'll... um, ah, we'll just pass another law saying you can't, that's what. We'll wave our magic wand around and march down the street in protest and shake our signs and the media will say we're right. So stop it."

Parker, laughing so hard I appear to have deposited spittle on myself - several drops...

Is there a doubt in anyone's mind that anything the federal government bans production of is worth more after the ban than before?

Every time Mr. Hamm flaps his gums, he adds a zero to the end of the price tag on black rifles. I'm sure he's baffled by the concept that by proposing limits on supply, he is driving demand, but this guy is selling AR's the way FN sold rifles in the 1950's... like they were Cutco knives. If he actually cared about his ostensible goal more than about seeing his name in print, he'd declare defeat and work in silence.

How biased is that hay? I mean those lunatics that buy guns are crazy just because they buy guns!
That is the most offensive thing I have ever heard, I take that as a personal shot not only to me and my friends, but to all gun owners, and the second amendment.

How can such a hurtful and extremest group be taken so seriously
I am appalled as to what our country and the views it harbors has changed into.
I can't tell if I am the insane one, or if I am the only sane person left

I am a crazy gun owner. I was so crazy that I bought a $1200 AR over buying a safe that I need since I have run out of room in the corner of my closet. How crazily irresponsible of me. One burglary and all of my guns are gone.

That's it, I'm buying another gun just so I can email a picture of my purchase to Mr. Hamm.

Why? Just give him proof you have a gun why dont ya!

Just make sure it holds more than 10 rounds.

I would say it will be the first friday after an announced gun ban . :D:D

>>>>>So when will the 10 million man march go down on Washington DC?
(Women too, to be PC >>> LOL)

That's funny, I say the same thing abut people that donate to the Brady's and their ilk.

People tend to lash out as a reaction to their own perceived impotence. The pathological liars at Brady are no exception.

I find it gratifying that the gun buying spree has not gone unnoticed, and is scaring these folk enough to warrant them publicly commenting on it.

:)

Well over a million new extremists since the election, and more coming every day . . .

"The Second Amendment breathes life into liberty," LaPierre said. "The Founding Fathers understood that the guys with the guns make the rules."

Can you prove that, Heron? I'm not arguing, you understand, but if your statement is verifiable, it's a fantastic bit of info.

Tim

What happens when the 'extremists' comprise a significant percentage of the population? Would they still be extremists? What's the cutoff? 20%? 40%? When does something become mainstream?:banghead::D
