Hi All, I`ve had my eye on a Browning BLR 81 in .223 . I see them advertised In a few of the online Sports stores . That`s great, but where to find the magazines for the gun? I thought, IMHO that it would be a great gun to have. Plenty of .223/5.56 ammo around . The actual rifle is beautiful. Are they made in Japan now? Do you think that they are considering stopping manufacture of the rifle? Just thought I`d get some expert opinions .

Browning has been making the BLR successfully since the 60's, and they're still popular. I don't see them going away, they're just about the only game in town if you want a high powered lever action that shoots traditional pointed bolt action cartridges. They're currently made in Japan, early models were made in Belgium.

The magazines for the 81 model are not hard to find, it's the previous generation that are like hen's teeth with a price above rubies.

Here's Midway's ad for new BLR .223 magazines: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/233...und-steel-blue

There's currently an ad on Ebay with a mag for the older models, asking $300, more than I paid for my Belgium Browning BLR.
