I live in New York State and as you know our Gov. has pushed thru the "Safe Act" which limits 10 round magazines to seven rounds. I have an older Hi Power with two 13 round magazines. I need to buy 10 round mags. which are legal if you only have seven rounds loaded or get someone to modify the mags. I have.
Can anyone give me some advice on this.
Appreciated!!

You have what? You have purchased 10 round magazines or you have had your high capacitiy magazines modified by someone?

As I understand the law in your state, you can have all ten rounds loaded at the range, but only 7 when you are carrying concealed or are at home.

I think this is a 10 round magazine for Browning Hi Power:

If it was me and moving wasn't an option, I would buy a Glock 36 (6 + 1) 45 acp or a Dan Wesson, Les Baer, or Ed Brown 45 acp with a 7 round magazine (Tripp)

I just couldn't stand carrying around a 9mm loaded to about half of the designed capacity and if limited to 7 rounds, I would prefer larger bullets.

Unfortunately, not only are you unable to use your 13 round mags, come January (in my understanding) if they are still in your possession they are illegal and the Governor, in his Himmler-like fashion- has set up a hotline that will reward friends, family and anyone else who turns you in for having them.

There is a registration provision however for certain normal capacity magazines that Marxism-Liberalism legislators have deemed "high capacity" but I do not understand its application. This is likely intentional.

You can have your 13 round mags either permanently plugged for 10 rounds (F111s understanding above is correct) or cut and shut for ten rounds (or 7). They will then be legal. After January, the Gestapo will however incentivize your own children to turn you in if they are not legal...

I think I have some ten round BHP mags lying around here somewhere from the old AWB era (1994 - 2004) but as I had many 13 and 15 rounders that were pre-ban, I never used them. If find them I will put them on the sales forum for the price of shipping for you unfortunate New Yorkers. :(

I feel for you. New York has really gone down the tube. I lived in Massachusetts that has it's own Draconian gun laws. They meant nothing to me when I lived there. The 2nd Amendment was clear to me. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Massachusetts has unconstitutional laws and so does NY among other states.

If you can't/won't move I can see why you want to get the new mags. I cherish my BHP and can't imagine ever letting it go. Even if I lived in a state where mags were capped at 7 I'd keep the BHP for the range, although I'd probably go with an HK45c or HK USPc in .45 ACP for CCW. Or can you even CCW there?

BHP seven round mag limit.

I live mid-state, although we are all pretty upset about the new laws moving out is not an option. We fight it best we can in hopes that the NRA and other orgs. we support can assist in a repeal. Out of the nine pistols I have the BHP is a favorite.
Thanks for the reply
