Never bought bubble wrap because I think plastic packaging is a such a waste and now I have one more reason why not to buy it!

i think if the bubble wrap people have such a problem, maybe they should use there millions to purchese their local police a shiney new indoor range. that way they do a public service and quiet things down a bit.
see, there is always a great solution. *grin*

"While I agree with his statement, I can't imagine that Chief Ingrasselino is all that pro gun, or that he'd stand up for a private or otherwise "civilian" shooting range under those same circumstances (I don't know the man personally, but I doubt one rises to the level of Police Chief anywhere in New Jersey without being a committed police stater)."

He is just looking out for 'the budget' and if it was your range--What is his position on CCW??

PS--I see this is NEW JERSEY--enough said. "No guns for you-only me and friends"-- Ill bet.

I'd also like to point out that NJ is the home of freeway "walls."
noise%20barrier%20021.jpg

Vast stretches of the NJTP, GSP, I-95, I-295, I-80, I-280, I-287, etc etc are lined with walls to keep the noise away from residents. Noise is scary!!!!

IIRC, NJ is the most densely populated (haha, no pun intended) state in the Union. Perhaps if residents were so concerned about noise they would choose not to move right up their neighbors' butts.

(LOL, and I have to drive 20 miles for a Walmart and 70 miles for an Outback. We don't have much here in Nebraska except for land. Lots and lots of land.)

It would only take a few nearby folks to express their support for the range to quickly end the debate.

Our small housing development of 71 homes is just a few hundred feet away from a police indoor range. The range and the development have co-existed side by side and happily for over 20 years.

A new resident moved in and took exception to the noise.

He complained bitterly and even went as far as to take his complaint before the Police Chief, the City Commisioners and the local press.

As a long term resident of this same community, and one who supports the existence of this range, I followed in his footsteps and expressed a supportive position to those same groups. They used that support to quickly counter his complaint and close the issue.

The complainer moved shortly thereafter and there IS joy in Mudville again.

Hush! You want the yuppies to start building a new subdivision where you are plinking now?

If the gunfire doesn't scare them off, the smell of the feedlots will! Plus, we don't have very many Starbucks joints out here. :)

Fool, you don't know who you are up against! While the average yuppie is prime example of an invertebrate, they won't hesitate to use assault lawyers against you! Assault lawyers IN BLACK SUITS! We all know that a black rifle is more dangeroues in some undefined way, so assault lawyers in black suits ought to be more dangerous than your standard lawyer...

Anyone complaining about the noise from a shooting range simply has to pay for the tax stamps and suppressors for everyone shooting there. Then everyone involved is happy.

Someone should take the Bubble Wrap people for a drive down to Pax River or NAS Oceana so they can listen to what F-18s sound like when they take off. I was stationed at Oceana back when they still had lots of F-14s there and those suckers are LOUD! Ironically I never remember anybody complaining about noise.

Does this mean that when I pop bubblewrap now, it will smell like gun smoke? SWEEEEEEEEEEET!

A couple of years ago, a real estate agent came to our local gun club to ask that no one shoot on Saturday mornings for awhile. That's when she showed clients the new housing development going in down the road, and she didn't want us to "scare away" her clients!
Machinegun Saturdays! :D

That reminds me: A year or to ago I was reading a mountain biking mag and they had an article about some sort of artificial trail park in Florida. The article said it was a sweet place, you just had to learn to ignore "Machinegun Thursdays" at the range next door. ;)

This, among other things, is a big problem in NJ.

No home for the gun range

The shortage of pistol ranges across North Jersey has caused concerns about where police can practice their target skills.

Departments in Demarest, Westwood, Emerson, Cliffside Park, Oradell, Bogota, Saddle River, Washington Township, Ridgewood, Butler, Totowa, Haledon and Bergenfield have to send officers out of town to practice.

Many municipalities once had shooting ranges but shut them because of safety concerns. The ranges were built far from populated areas, but New Jersey's rapid development and population growth brought homes and residents closer to the line of fire.

Now, I'm not encouraging a political debate here, I do just want to put the facts out. Mods, if I'm out of line, please PM me and I'll edit this part out.

For the guys commenting on the Police chief's stance on GC. I don't know him, I've never lived in Elmwood Park, but I know the 38th District in NJ is blue. And it is likely that the PC's stance falls in line with a traditional blue stance.

There is a serious attitude of guns and CCW for all...

...of the police, military.

The fact of the matter is the bloated property taxes win every fight here. Until we have some serious reform here these problems will only get worse.

The concerned employees can fix this problem with two things, bubble wrap and duct tape...

Simply wrap the bubble wrap around their heads and fasten with duct tape...
ATF already has a "wrap" on that solution:

Ingrasselino has fired back with his own letter, arguing that the police training facility, which includes a firing range, was in that location long before Sealed Air moved in.
Now, if he could maintain that attitude for the civilian ranges, I'd be really impressed. In my state, our civilian owned ranges have for the most part, fallen to crap such as this and it sickens me no end. New indoor ranges have opened, but the outdoor ranges in this area are a thing of the past.

I suspect he doesn't support guns for the military...unless they're on duty.

Most such cops are fairly derogatory toward the military.

I've had one stand in front of me, 1000 yard stare, shouting, "You don't know what it's like out there, every day with someone trying to kill you!"

I showed him my military ID and said, "Do you realize why saying that to me makes you an utter moron?"

He replied, "Oh, well, @#$% you military guys! You know who the enemy is! And most of you will never see one! COPS FACE THIS EVERY DAY!"

Now, I won't judge this chief without hearing him, but many others in that area are all in favor of guns for cops, on or off duty, but screw the troops.

We have a development in town here next to a fairly nice range. However, potential residents have to drive a mile down Rod and Gun Club Road before they get to the first house. Sorta hard for Realtors to keep it a secret. My wife didn't mind the range when we were looking for a house but she said she didn't move to Montana to be under an airport glide path.

yes its an ongoing problem my club
Holladay gun club will probably be shut down this year due to
development.
people build houses off a road called Gun club road then complain?
